3 infant #pertussis deaths this year in Kentucky. "Of the three infant deaths reported over the past 12 months, all three were not vaccinated, nor were their mothers."

We first tested maternal vaccination for whooping cough over 80 years ago. It's safe & effective & might have saved these babies.

Always read @ericmgarcia.bsky.social on the politics of autism. This piece is excellent in describing the harm RFK Jr. is doing to autistic people.
For the past decade, conversations around autism shifted from focusing around curing #ActuallyAutistic people to accommodating and accepting autistic people. We now live in the RFK Jr. backlash, which shifts discussions around autism toward prevention

Opinion | RFK Jr.'s latest anti-vaccine move will cause untold harm to autistic Americans
The Trump administration is working toward treating autism as something to be prevented, rather than building a health care system that helps people.

PhDs in STEM fields, the highly trained motor that advances innovation (in everything from medicine to space exploration) are called “cheap labor” that is unwanted in the US - at least in Florida (Trump’s america). Don’t go. European opportunities await.

“Don’t want to lose SNAP? Tell the Dems to reopen the government!”

SNAP assistance gets cut in the big beautiful bill too.

Healthcare is slashed as well.

They’re withholding food for 40 million Americans to try and force the Dems to sign off on cutting food AND healthcare!

About this Florida vaccine story:

When they were little - 1 yr and 3 1/2 - my two older boys, who’d had all their shots, got whooping cough.

We asked their pediatrician what would’ve happened if they hadn’t been vaccinated.

“Oh, they’d have died.”
