She/her. I’m an archivist and historian with a deep love for primary sources. I’ll info dump about rhetoric, history, society/politics for as long as you’ll let me. Keeper of a home full of sassy critters. Trying to embrace more whimsy.
Well. This is certainly something.

Presidential admin ideas for rewarding childbirth just happen to line up perfectly with quiverfull ideology, the tactics of multiple authoritarian regimes, and great replacement bullshit.

Trump may soon offer a motherhood medal, an idea popularized in Nazi Germany

Sometimes I get kinda mentally stuck on the fact that a not insignificant portion of where we are now traces directly back to some dude throwing a tantrum that his ex’s video game received favorable reviews. And yeah.

New — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was told this week by DOJ that they'd lose their funding if the org didn't remove any mentions of LGBTQIA+ issues from their public materials, I've learned. Staff were told they need to deadname trans kids in their reports to comply.

I cannot overstate how fucking weird it is to try to focus on work or chores right now. There’s a coup on and I’m supposed to just reply to emails and empty the dishwasher and buy groceries? Brain does not compute.

I wonder if we should be thinking of Musk's seizing of Treasury as an historic cyber-security breach that endangers the entire US and global financial system.

Every government and financial institution in the world should be demanding that Treasury arrest the hackers, restore integrity of US govt.

Republicans ran into the room to SHEILD Elon Musk from having to come and speak to Congress. They want their billionaire takeover done behind closed doors. The people deserve transparency. No one elected Elon Musk.
I’m in Oversight Committee right now. Ranking Member Connolly just called for a vote to subpoena Elon Musk. Republicans out-number us on this committee, but many aren’t in the room. We’ll see who wins this vote. We deserve transparency and answers.

Hear me out —

If parents call colleges freaked about their FAFSA data being leaked, schools may have to issue statements — which would reach a whole lot more families about how warped this is.

Organizing isn’t always calling electeds. Sometimes it’s just calling people with a bigger megaphone.
Musk staff have access to student aid data now.

There’s the obvious way this is terrifying. And if you’ve ever read more than three scientific studies, you already know the term bias is used commonly in ways that have nothing to do with social prejudices.

When the history of this conditional crisis is written, it should be reflected that the best training ground for flouting laws and reneging on obligations was being an American CEO. The voters got their wish. These guys are running the country like a business.

It has always been the case, but will be even moreso now and for a while. Being a safe port in the proverbial storm for your friends and loved ones who will be targeted will be one of the most important things you can do. What does this look like? A number of things, but here’s a sampling.

Rapists know they can use BDSM as a cover, because it is stigmatized. Rapists know that using elements of BDSM during their assault can muddy the waters of clarity, casting doubt on the victim, and causing the victim to doubt their own experience.

Stop saying nonconsensual BDSM when you mean rape.

Neil Gaiman is a litmus test of "do you really care about the victims" based on if you're more worried about the victims or the art

It's fine to be disappointed because you really enjoyed his works, but consider that truly not mattering.

Bad people can make good art. You have to accept that fact.
