Just looked this up: Palestine tried to join the European Broadcasting Union in 2012 but was rejected because the International Telecommunications Union has not recognised Palestine as a part of the European Broadcasting Area but does recognise Israel.
Israel also blew up the HQ of the PBC in 2002.

On reflection I think it would have been smarter to demand that Palestine be included in Eurovision rather than Israel be excluded. It would have shown that the real international boycott is not of Israel but of Palestine, whose right to exist is constantly denied.

I’m not going to bleat on about it but it has been a LONG time since something affected me as much as Pillion. Like I think the last thing was Weekend but that was such a literal moment, Pillion it was just one gesture which still makes me 🥹 thinking about it.
