Black and white photo of a medium haired white cat lying in loaf position on a lawn. The photo is pretty striking because it’s fairly dark but the cats’ face is dramatically illuminated by light streaming in from the right. It is reminiscent of how women’s faces were often lit in noir films of the 1940s and 50s. The cats’ eyes look they might be two different colors but it’s unclear if it’s due to heterochromia or just the stark lighting.

Furnando visited the garden as the snow was beginning to fall. He, or she, didn't stay around long.

SkyCam is under several inches of snow right now, but still working. 👍 Please enjoy what has to be the most exciting photo on the internet to date. 🤣

There's some snow on the ground in the background and Furnando has some areas of wet fur. A fascinatingly compelling photo from SkyCam, it is buried under several inches of snow and this is what it is seeing. I'm pleased it's still working. It's whiteish grey overall with hints of texture here and there in slightly greyer tints.

Die ganze erdzugewandte Seite der Sonne in gelber Farbe. Wie gestern besonders rechts am Rand weit ins schwarze All reichende Strukturen aus gasförmiger Sonnenmaterie, die wie Fontänen aus Licht aussehen, teils gerade in die Umgebung strömen, teils Wirbel bilden.

Die ganze erdzugewandte Seite der Sonne in gelber Farbe. Sehr spektakulär geht es rechts am Rand zu. Auf der Zeigerposition vier Uhr breitet sich Strahlung wie ein gewaltiger Fächer aus Licht weit ins All aus und auch darüber geht ein zweiter nicht ganz so breiter Strahl nahezu senkrecht nach oben, bis er sich im Schwarz der Umgebung verliert.

Umgeben vom Schwarz des Universums und einigen Sternen eine komplexe Erscheinung, die quasi wie ein Sandwich in Schichten angeordnet aussieht: innen und fast senkrecht stehend ein orangeroter Streifen, der links und rechts von weiß leuchtenden Rändern gesäumt wird. Wieder links und rechts davon bläulich dargestellt und eher diffus teils durchsichtige Nebel, die mehr oder weniger weit in die Umgebung strömen. Die Momentaufnahme lässt die Dynamik der Prozesse erahnen, die bei der Entstehung von Planeten im Spiel sind.

Guten Morgen zusammen - wie gewohnt mit einem aktuellen Bild der Sonne via Satellit GOES-19, heute mal wieder in (Achtung: komplizierter Fachbegriff) gletschereisbonbonfarbener Wellenlänge.
Die ganze erdzugewandte Seite der Sonne in türkisfarbener Darstellung, wobei hier einige Regionen dunkler und andere heller wiedergegeben werden. Besonders auffällig rechts am Rand auf der Zeigerposition vier Uhr ein sehr helles Gebiet, von dem Strahlen weit ins schwarze Weltall ausgehen. Solche Aktiven Regionen sind nicht ungewöhnlich und können Ausgangspunkt für Eruptionen sein, die aber in diesem aktuellen Fall nicht in Richtung Erde gehen würden.
