Feldman on vinyl is a little perverse but it's true this is a very beautiful record. One of the best Feldman recordings imo.

In my first week of college Anthony Braxton told me the future of the universe depended on my playing the accordion in his ensemble. (true story!)

Quite a crystallization of the bizarre moment we're living in, especially when they get into how AI transforms their fair use argument into a tool of corporate oppression. Recommended to all - not just people (like me) doing sample-based art work.

I don't have an opinion about the music but the artwork is going straight into someone's Phd thesis.

This is what is going on in my world this week…
As NEC celebrates what would have been Gunther Schuller's 100th birthday, three musicians who knew him discuss the work ethic, institutional courage, and polyglot vision that made teaching ragtime next to European harmony seem natural, not radical.

Del Toro was a highlight of this film but this needle drop is The Worst and I say that as a fan of both PTA and The Dan. Loved it in American Hustle tho.
PTA shut down production and ballooned the budget on this movie so he could cast Benicio del Toro, and the very first shot of him instantly proves it was worth it

experimental music/audio tech people- check out this Epstein email (to self?) that _almost_ reads like a very rough draft of an Oliveros-ian text piece. I'll never look at a Fast Fourier Transform the same way again.

This is that great intellect people talk about?

The brutal clarity of Zadie Smith... on target as usual. Confession: I am reading White Teeth for the first time right now and I deeply regret waiting this long.
Great piece by Zadie Smith. When the right talks about classics or "Western" culture, these works are only important to the extent that it demonstrates their superiority, they have no interest in art in and of itself beyond that www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Same. And we have serious work to do in our community to undo the sickening propaganda around this campaign (and everything else tbh). Hearing my own family members echo this stuff has been appalling.
I don't live in NYC so I couldn't vote for Mamdani, but I want to say this loud and clear: along with many, many other Jews, I'd proudly have voted for Mamdani, and these folks (along with Greenblatt etc al) do not speak for me.

grift us, impose a theocratic ethnostate, build a climate-hardened fortress for the ultrarich... how to even tease them apart at this point?
The whole Third Term Project isn’t actually about Trump. The people behind it know he will likely be dead or enfeebled by 2029. It is about them, the vastly unpopular group around Trump, wanting to grift us forever without elections.

More and more I think the way forward for conservatories is to become tech-free zones, especially generative AI. And I say that as someone who teaches music technology at a conservatory.

yes that is exactly how I remember 1979

Thanks to everyone who checked out my destroyed Shakespeare artworks yesterday. Not sure why they had a little "moment" on this platform, but I appreciate it. Here is a higher-resolution image of "Macbeth," from my series Ten Tragedies. You can see the complete set at www.tedreichman.com/art

whenever one of these industrial music/fascism crossover moments emerges - and it happens more often than you'd think - I am reminded why I've never been able to tolerate any of that stuff.
A lot of garbled stuff about industrial music. Very funny to hear Tucker ask ‘what is Nurse With Wound’
