yeah RCA has been kinda shit for a while. the band members have incorporated fan gifts into their stage outfits and stuff, and the band itself consistently works with small/non-corporate artists. but ever since they moved to RCA, RCA has been crazy abt IP.

i feel like a lot of the subtext of the discussion of thinking about politics like war is the fact that the right, particularly the religious right, already does.

Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest.

There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day.

What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid.

It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as “war-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.

so failing to forgive is thought of as putting distance between you and god, and it's something ur supposed to strive towards. but there's not a lot of emphasis placed on *boundaries* bc christ is thought of as being beyond that.

like, forgiveness & salvation are generally pretty entangled in christianity, and this is only intensified by the examples of various martyrs - e.g., that one guy who said he should be turned over bc he was pretty sure he was done on that side (while being roasted to death).
