I retired from the federal government last year after 33 years. In my experience, the overwhelming majority of federal employees are competent, hard-working, dedicated, and honest; this is what Trump objects to. These are people who deserve better than this.

Physical mail, land lines, now increasingly even email — I find it tragic the way we will sooner abandon a once revolutionary communication technology than regulate* its use by those who seek to sell us junk by feigning familiarity.

*or even cease to subsidize, in some cases.

The military has a duty to refuse unlawful orders, but Congress has a duty to remove from office a president and secretary who would issue such orders. There is something off about members of Congress talking about the former while refusing to say the latter, the part that's actually their job here.

There is one and only position that makes any sense if you really take it seriously: say openly and unapologetically that he must be removed from office. Not just call on people to condemn it, not just fret about norms. He is literally trying to kill you. Act like it.

Trump calling for members of Congress to be hanged is not great, in my humble opinion.

idea for people who celebrate christmas:

1. use tinsel to divide your tree into differently shaped sections with roughly similar numbers of ornaments

2. say it's "treedistricting"

I think a thing we'll learn tonight is that people fucking hate what is going on and they will straight ticket vote against anyone involved in starving people while pillaging the country and kidnapping their neighbors. I don't think it matters at all who that person is.

I’ve received some feedback this week about generally having a more “palatable” message—e.g., not naming Trump or calling out other orgs.

I need folks to understand something: I’m not trying to make a palatable message. I’m using the message of science to try to stop authoritarianism in America. 🧵

They made a movement out of trying to stop the removal of ANY Confederate statue anywhere in the country! Out of taking down Confederate fucking flags!

We literally saw what they do!

"Oh so there's no path to redemption?" Sure there is. Most paths to redemption don't run through the U.S. Senate, though. Go, live a good life. Farm oysters. Diminish and go into the East and be an always improving Graham Platner. Do not be a Senator. And remove that fucking tat.

Hey, so another piece of advice for people who are S-Corps: there is a company called Opolis that acts as your employer of record and will provide health insurance and other benefits.
If you're a writer/other creator in the United States, consider creating an LLC for your business and then signing up for a local area Chamber of Commerce. Many of them have health insurance plans that pool their members and members of other CoCs to create insurance efficiencies relative to ACA.
