Was in McDonald's in Liverpool yesterday for lunch with the family and an argument broke out on another table - one family took someone else's table whilst they were at the toilet.
Long story short, it ended with the father of the table-taking family shouting, "it's our country not yours".

I grew up quite comfortable in the 80s as in always had food, clothes, even had piano lessons, but never realised how much my parents sacrificed then so that my sibs and I could have those opportunities. They never had anything nice for themselves. Every cent was saved for us kids.
It is genuinely hard for most people to grasp how poor the past was.
