The real version may be some kind of proto-mammal, but the plastic version is definitely a dinosaur
theblastedheath.bsky.social
Some of us grew up with entirely inaccurate representations in the form of luridly coloured injection-moulded plastic Dinosaurs with made in Hong Kong written on their bellies

It's always so difficult to get right, because so many times I try to adjust things and end up overworking it, and it just ends up looking kind of fussy and heavy.

I'm glad that it actually arrived, it's always stressful putting art in the mail

Thanks, I had three attempts at an earlier version that I just could not get to work, and then I did this one. Here is the earlier attempt
A watercolour painting of a red painted iron Bridge across a Gorge and a forested landscape there is a small green roofed station house on one side of the gorge

This is literally the reason I stopped taking things like cocaine, there's no outside of the system we're in and the many forms of violence with which we are complicit, but taking Coke was just directly funding torture, murder, sex trafficking etc, so I could be annoyingly hyper at a party for 10min

My birthday present to my sister finally arrived in NY and so did some kind of summery weather in Copenhagen
A photograph of the Copenhagen Lakes people are sitting under the chestnut trees in the sunshine A painting of a tree trunk cross section with 40 rings the bark on the outside of the tree is covered in Moss and lichen

Hahahaha I wondered how that would be received

To be honest that does sound a little bit like burnout but also (at least in my own experience) the healthy way through that is what you're doing, which is finding ways to make art that are more fun and less stressful

Blaming media outlets for this moment is valid. I also know so many journalists of color who tried to bring things up, point things out, report with integrity, and change how communities of color are reported; only to be repeatedly discouraged, dismissed and reprimanded by white editors and managers

I had a very fun day helping friends make Pustovanje masks
A red painted horned mask with a slightly goat-like appearance made from cardboard and fringed with mountain sheep faux fur

Do you really want a bunch of teenage techbro's deciding whether you live or die? Nobody voted for this.

Fun lil cocktail party fact from Richard Reeves'
"Of Boys And Men"
•	As the muscular demands of work decline, men are becoming physically weaker; one study of grip strength, a good marker of overall strength, shows a sharp decline among men. Meanwhile, and perhaps more surprisingly, women are getting physically stronger. In 1985, the average man in his early 30s could squeeze your hand with about 30 pounds more force than a similarly aged woman. Today, their grip strength is about the same.

Thanks, I am feeling a bit (but not 100%) recovered now
