OTD 100 years ago.

On 1st December 1925 the Locarno Treaties were signed in London. On the same day the Allies agreed to reduce troop numbers in the Rhineland on 31 Jan 26, and France negotiated treaties with Czechoslovakia and Poland pledging mutual assistance in the event of an attack by Germany.

#HistNursing Advent day 5. These are possibly my favourite photos showing the personality of the nurses. The nurses were sent at short notice to German held Samoa in August 1914 - possibly 1st nurses to serve in war. They all went on to serve in Europe for rest of war. Probable measles TPR chart

Able Seaman Henry Cullimore, of Cromhall, Gloucestershire, drowned in Budapest while serving on H.M. Motor Launch 434. He is one of only four Great War servicemen buried in Hungary. His remains were moved to their current location in 1958.

John Shiwak was an Inuk soldier with the Newfoundland Regiment (later Royal Newfoundland Regiment).
Considered one of the best snipers of the war, he never made it back home.
