I get this, but here's where I'm at:

Trump & Vance are the worst of us. America is bigger than them, and they win if we let them define us.
Team USA is the best of us. It's filled with Americans MAGA hates—first-generation + immigrants, LGBTQ+ athletes, people of color—& I'm gonna root for them.
I really really want these athletes to have a great experience, be competitive and perhaps win a gold medal, but, honestly, the thought of hearing "USA!USA!USA!" during their games kinda makes me cringe. If we were any other country the IOC would ask us to march under the olympic flag.

Let me reiterate: THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH GUYS TO PERSECUTE LARGE NUMBERS OF DISSENTERS. What they are doing, instead, is using fear and paranoia as a force multiplier: they don’t have to persecute us if we keep ourselves home because someone told us we can’t walk in public without being terrified.

This is just my own hot take, but I believe staffing is going to be the biggest issue in education over the next 10 years. Finding and keeping talented teachers in the classroom is going to be more and more difficult for schools, regardless of the environment.
If you have not read this AWESOME study on teacher turnover by Jabbar and Holme, then you should. journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....

The stakes have been raised. The Democrats have got to run on putting these people in prison. They have to. Jobs, food, all the rest, but shooting a mother in the head on a public street? None of this Garland stuff. "The full force of the government will be brought to bear" on this and similar.

If the Cleveland Guardians were serious about contending for a title next year, they’d be making an aggressive offer for Ketel Marte and Cody Bellinger. A team and an owner where good enough is good enough, so long as it doesn’t require any real investment.

One of my favorite parts of the baseball season is to have Hammy on in the background. As I am cooking, doing yard work, finishing up some emails. He's been doing it since the early 90s. Absolute all timer.
Scully, Kalas, Uecker, Jack Buck, Jon Miller, Tom Hamilton and so forth: they call the plays but you learn the game as they call it.
"He never taught me anything": Sir, I don't believe you follow the Sport of Kings, but my favorite color commentator is Caprice Coleman for this reason. Many former wrestlers do a fine job explaining moves & holds, but Coleman will sometimes crack open a whole match, even a whole athlete, for me.

The next billionaire who whines about payroll is getting pants and a swirly 💯
Dodgers only negative was their bullpen and they just added Edwin Díaz. This is not the Dodgers' fault. Other teams shouldn't have allowed it. They should've done everything in their power to stop it, namely they should've paid more money than the Dodgers. Unfortunately, half the league cries poor

JB Pritzker - I owe you an apology. I really wasn't familiar with your game.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

There’s only one way to explain why questions like “who do NYC voters like for mayor,” and “what do San Franciscans think about George Washington,” become national issues that define the Democratic Party, while genuine Republican extremism with national implications is glossed over as a local issue.
The whole state of Idaho banning all vaccine mandates should be bigger news! If you want your grandmother's nursing home or your daughter's day care to require nurses and teachers to vaccinate, you literally can't! None of them are allowed to require that.

The self immolation of the world's greatest research ecosystem out of petty grievances is something to behold.
"Within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, there will be a 75 percent cut to the sciences division and a 60 percent cut to the arts and humanities. The scope of cuts to the social sciences division remains unclear but is estimated to fall somewhere between 50 and 70 percent."
