Look, it’s fine to admit you’re just selling commodities to make a profit. Just have the courage of your convictions & stop pretending what you’re doing is “liberal arts education.”

And, for the love of G-d, stop lying about the power of faculty in governance & how romantic they are about society.
Yes we all agree that this is the reason colleges are in trouble

Mark Ames uses the opportunity of the 1 year anniversary of the overthrow of Assad to lie about chemical weapons in Syria, so at least he's consistent. The OPCW is still working in Syria, has identified 100 sites of interest, and found signs of nerve agents

They embrace the plebiscitary president and then when someone criticizes, say, gerrymandering or overaggressive judicial review of Congress, it's all "it's a republic, not a democracy."
this is why i keep saying that the unitarians have embraced a vision of the plebiscitary president who acts as the sovereign embodiment of the people. it is the only way this notion of “accountability” makes sense.

Great thread on why hepatitis B is such an issue and why the vaccine at birth was SO important.
Why do babies need the hepatitis B vaccine if they aren’t high-risk?

Short answer: Because hepatitis B is a tricky virus.

One reason we failed in the past is bc we didn't build up popular opposition to the crimes, whether it's torture or drone-killing or even attacking Congress.

Now is the time to do that, not after Dems retake power.
If Democrats are ever in power again what’s going to happen is the idea of holding this administration accountable for breaking the law every single day is immediately going to be made out as the greater breach of the rules.

Aside from the extremely dubious question of whether the occupants of the Venezuelan boat even qualified as “combatants,” ordering a second strike from an aircraft for the sole purpose of killing defenseless people was absolutely an illegal order.

Just like there USED TO BE prominent Democrats and mainstream media voices who insisted it was always “too soon” to “get political” about the latest mass shooting.

We beat the shit out of that.
There are going to be prominent Democrats and mainstream media voices who insist that we have to "turn the page" and "forgive and forget" and they should all be roundly ignored, if not mercilessly mocked.
It’s crazy to think about the crimes we’re going to learn about after this regime ends.

We’re already hearing about Watergate level crimes every week. Imagine what will come out after it’s over.

We’re going to need a full accounting of all that’s been done in violation of the constitution.

Folks look at you like you’re crazy when you say we’re in the midst of the worst, most unprecedented Article I constitutional crisis in American history, & then it’s another Monday:
The government is shut down & the Speaker of the House won’t open the chamber or the government & is denying a duly elected Democrat her seat. But the president who is monetizing the presidency, bulldozing the White House, & murdering people on the high seas, is allowed to stack the judiciary 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
By a vote of 51-46, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Eric Chunyee Tung to be United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit.

This was a party-line vote. Not voting: Senators Booker, Cotton & Tillis.

The news media needs to start using experts on authoritarianism and pre-WWII history as pundits on stories about the current administration. This is not a joke - just a boring good idea. The rapid shift to fascism needs to be put in context by people who know, not podcasters and politicians.

It's becoming difficult to hide that a major purpose of the Trump administration is siphoning tax revenues from Blue states and redirecting them into subsidies for Red states. At what point does this become intolerable?
Next move from OMB - canceling $8 billion in clean energy funds. You will note, all of the projects are in states led by Democrats

ER doc here! This is a lie. Wait times are up because the American healthcare system is an unsustainable business model and a for-profit national healthcare system just doesn’t work. These problems will continue to get worse until we change that system. It literally has nothing to do with immigrants
Vance: "If you're an American citizen & you've been to the hospital in the last few years, you've probably noticed wait times are especially large & very often somebody who's there in the ER is an illegal alien. Why do those people get healthcare benefits at hospitals paid for by American citizens?"
