It's a random sad Monday in Dec.; 3 of my stories were published in 2025.

#1 "Promise the Human Being" chosen by Michael C at
@ghostcitypress.bsky.social The tonal shift in the second half annoyed most of my friends, a compelling rec. Like Animorphs. CW for SA. ghostcitypress.com/prose2/2025/...

It only took me six seconds to realize the Xanax wasn’t working. There were 44 minutes, 54 seconds left of the MRI, but I was approximately two seconds away from a panic attack. My breaths grew shallow, and my heart felt as though it might pound out of my chest. I moved my arms to the side to touch the all too close edges of the machine. Don’t open your eyes– as soon as the thought entered my mind, my eyes flung open to stare at the machine’s ceiling. It felt so close to my nose that I wondered if I had enough space to breathe.

ProPublica spoke to about 150 people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.”

We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words.

The real value of these books (other than for bookstores where they make for an easy and reliable sale) is that they’re extremely non-neutral, and drive you to take a stance even as they teach you about what you might be taking a stance ON.
An academic disliked an Oxford Very Short Introduction (145 pages) in his field so much that he wrote a 200 page book review attacking it. www.pierre-legrand.com/ewExternalFi...

Tool is great because the songs are profoundly catchy and propulsive, and half of them are just about how a guy was a little rude to Maynard one time.

I stumbled across a bit of Portland's history with trans surgeries over on the Oregon Queer History Collective website. From the mid '90s until around 2003 Portland was a bit of a destination city for surgery seeking transsexuals because Meltzer had his clinic here.
