Yeah, I think the decision „We now stop counting as long as our candidate is ahead and, mind you, this will not be precedent because we fully intend to decide otherwise if the shoe is on the other foot“ should probably have been a tell for more people..

Jaja. Ich wiederhole mich: mir gehts jetzt eben bloss um RFKs Antisemitismus. Er sagte auch, Covid sei so „engineered“ worden, dass es Juden verschone. Hat auch niemanden von denen, die sonst jeden Palästina-Wimpel bemerken, gekümmert.

Die Leute in DDR und Sowjetunion lebten nicht deshalb in relativer Armut und Angst und Unfreiheit, weil der Ostblock eigentlich „rechts“ war, sondern weil eine faire und progressive Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft nur mit Rechtstaat und Demokratie bestehen können. Auch „links“.

Man kann sich fragen, warum so ein Denkmal gerade jetzt geplant ist. Aber wir sollten nicht die alte „No real scotsman“-Debatte über den real existierenden Kommunismus aufwärmen. Die DDR und der ganze Ostblock waren genau das, was bei Sozialismus ohne Demokratie rauskommt: eine Diktatur.

Und vielleicht hofft man zudem beim Komitee auf einen mässigenden Effekt. Auf dass Maduros Diktatur nicht einfach mit einer rechten Diktatur ersetzt werde. Die Hoffnung ist nicht völlig naiv. Der Friedensnobelpreis hat enormes Prestige.

Viele ärgern sich heute, dass eine Politikerin ausgezeichnet wurde, die Trump politisch nahesteht. Ich glaube, das war dem Komitee bewusst. Man liess die Trumpisten auflaufen: Der diesjährige Preis ist ein Statement gegen Autoritarismus, ob er von rechts kommt oder - wie in Venezuela - von links.
