"I'd rather be a free man in my grave
Than living as a puppet or a slave
So as sure as the sun will shine
I'm gonna get my share now, what's mine
And then the harder they come
The harder they fall, one and all..."

Today, I honor the life, music, and legacy of Jimmy Cliff.
Rest well, singer.

When there is important work to be done in the world, that needs each of us, desperately…
We pause awhile, and take a breath with our siblings, the trees.

Every year for the past decade or so, I’ve posted a prayer of grief for
Trans Day of Remembrance.

This year? I just feel sad, tired, and angry. I want the scapegoating, hatred, and violence to stop….

Here is an obituary for Alice Wong from The Sick Times, a publication aligned with disability rights and disability activism, if you are looking for an alternative to reading the nyt one: thesicktimes.org/2025/11/15/a...
Alice Wong, disability activist and luminary, dies at 51 - The Sick Times
Alice Wong platformed and uplifted people with Long COVID in her final chapter as a lifelong disability advocate and storyteller.

"Freedom first takes root in our visions for a radically just space-time continuum..."

I just found out that great Alice Wong has crossed over. She fought for justice and a better vision for the world her whole life. Her impact is immense, and her legacy broad and deep.

Rest well, warrior.

I would always tell people who called the soup kitchen offering to volunteer on those holidays: “please join us in July!”
DO NOT call up the homeless shelter on thanksgiving or Xmas to see if you can pass a few plates and show your kids the “reason for the season”

The homeless shelter is not a petting zoo of human tragedy! The homeless shelter is not a drive thru nativity scene for you to enjoy!

Daughters of the Dust is a *brilliant* film. Simply amazing.
You ever heard of Julie Dash? Some of you undoubtedly have, but quite a few I'd imagine not.

Julie Dash is the first Black woman (ever) to have a full-length film with a theatrical release in the United States.

In 1991.

There's a book as well.

Julie Dash turns 73 years old today

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.
