They really can’t stop fixating on other people’s genitals. Kids, transgender folks, doesn’t matter. Gonna police all of it.

Another reason the restaurants in DC are suffering? They’ve riffed people all over the region. Tough to do the night out when you’re looking for a job.

Accessibility is popular, it's rare I meet anyone who thinks it doesn't matter.

Usually it's the systemic failures that make us de-prioritize it, things like perceived tight timelines, low budgets, lack of resources.

Regardless, the future world is accessible. There's too many of us that want it

At first the Discord hack didn’t seem that bad because it was initially the third party help desk.

But then you find out they had got there age verification data. Come to find out they got 1.5 TB of government id and age verification data. This is going to become a case against age verification.

The reality that Apple is actively anti-web is obscured by influential, aging web commentators who remember when it wasn't, and enjoy the wealth bubble's shiny toys. They're failing to demand better browsers on their phones, and that's a scandal:

Stryper (fwiw I think this is both a right and a wrong answer)
This is a picture of the Christian metal band from the 80’s known as Stryper. 4 men with long, blown out hair (mega 80s style) They are all wearing black and yellow striped leather outfits

Reporter's notebook: I actually began working on this story shortly after footage of the incident showed up last month.

But by the time I finally got ahold of folks, the story grew: 2 *other* faith leaders I spoke with *also* reported being shot w/pepper balls while protesting this ICE facility.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

the most delightful version of logging on to see what news you've missed
Dr Ramsdell, whose phone had been on airplane mode when the Nobel committee tried to call him, told the BBC's Newshour Programme that his first response when his wife said, "You've won the Nobel prize" was: "I did not."

To which Ms O'Neill replied that she had 200 text messages that suggested he had.

His default dodge has become - “I’m not following that” which begs some follow-ups that ponder why he’s so woefully behind on important topics. But that dodge is there for a reason, he doesn’t have the dignity to defy Trump and he would have to if he did.

If you were determined to devastate places like the Arkansas Delta, where I grew up, you'd be hard pressed to come up with a more destructive set of policies. It's soybeans and rice as far as the eye can see. It's not an incidental fraction of the local economy, it is the entire foundation of it.

Soybean Farmer: So now I've got a tariff war that's killing my market. I don't have any money from grain we're sending to other countries for USAID. I mean, I've got a compound problem. I don't know how you plan for next year because we don't know where we're at.

This is the kind of reporting that should be national news. It shows that Christianity is not the monolith of evangelicalism that dominates the right, and to show how our government is abusing faith leaders, immigrants, and anyone who dares to speak in peaceful opposition.

NEW: I spoke to clergy and faith leaders who've joined protests at the Chicago-area ICE facility.

Three say they've been shot with pepper balls, sometimes while praying.

All say ICE is also violating their religious freedom, and one is arguing it in court. religionnews.com/2025/10/07/i...

Do we need to split the MMR vaccine into 3 shots?

No.

-No medical reason. Current vax has no safety issues and works very well
-Kids don’t like needles. Why give them 3x the shots?
-Peds office already have limited bandwidth. Who staffs 3x the visits?

Another nonsensical, unserious “policy”

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

One of the more incredible stories out of LA this year has been how a taco review blog became the best on-the-ground coverage of ICE raids in the city.

They do a dispatch every day, follow-up on the kidnapped people (which almost no media outlet has done), and fact-check government claims.

Zelda Williams has it right (referring to AI slop and videos of her father Robin) and as much as generative AI has stolen content from creators, these new videos of people who are no longer with us is just gross. Human Centipede indeed.
Quote from Zelda Williams (daughter of Robin) “And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it ‘the future’. AI is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.”

I read this as “they are running out of shitty people to do shitty things” or maybe “all the really bad folks are working in ICE right now and we have a thinner headcount to spread around” either way, this seems like an opportunity for corruption at a massive scale with fewer institutional checks

Yes, but we know that Trump has traditionally avoided the spotlight and doesn’t see himself as the center of attention. I’m sure Tapper agreed knowing how reclusive and overall shy Trump has been with the media. Totally normal and in character.

Just posting this. Everyone knows why.
Text of the fourth amendment “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
