"The city’s new social housing tax, levied on lofty pay packages to pay for public housing, was due Jan. 31. The startling news was that it blew the projections out of the water."👏

Another ‘millionaires tax’ finds Seattle is far richer than anyone knew
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson last week described the city as “filthy rich.” Impolitic as that may be, returns from a new tax on high pay packages show she’s not wrong.

Grocery prices continue to climb. Health care is more expensive than ever. And fewer Americans can buy a home.

To tackle these issues, Republicans in Washington are calling for an investigation into Bad Bunny.

Take 30 seconds to urge your state lawmakers to pass HB 1687. This is a pro-housing (social) housing bill lawmakers can take this session that doesn’t cost any money. Plus, it would relax land use restrictions for social housing. Thanks @juliareedwa.bsky.social !

This needs to be repeated:

Our housing plans should not revolve around "Corridors."

Homes belong in neighborhoods.

We voted for new leadership on housing. Unfortunately, it has not yet arrived.
In honor of the City finally releasing the Corridor maps, this sketch illustrates why living on an arterial is not the same as being close to transit.

our comp plan is a public health and livability nightmare - funneling affordable housing and renters on to loud, dangerous, and polluted streets that are difficult to cross - while protecting homeowners from the arterial

renters continue to be fodder to protect wealthy.
this sucks so much.

I shouldn’t have had to make a damn BLINK COMPARATOR so that people can catch what got NIMBYed and downzoned in this version. OPCD could have released a difference map, it’s all already in GIS, it probably would have taken minutes of effort. They wanted to bury the lede.
Here is the same thing but with every downzone area I can see circled. I count 37 total areas. Some are the neighborhood center shrinkage that we knew about, but others are... just entire corridors getting chopped

Senate Democrats absolutely have to shut the govt down to stop this ICE insanity in the Twin Cities. This is not sustainable & cannot be normalized. Any Democratic vote to provide money to the thugs who are brutalizing this community is a grave betrayal to the people here. Accountability can't wait.
