Ashley James, celebrity star of Good Morning has resigned from Girl Guides in response to their exclusion of trans girls.
I am - and always will be - proud of my time as a Girlguiding ambassador. As a former Rainbow and Brownie myself, I know first hand what a difference these spaces make to girls. I've seen it in the faces of the young people I met on site visits - including trans girls, who were every bit as bright, joyful and deserving as any other child. Which is why the organisation's decision to exclude trans girls has devastated me. Some of those girls and their families have now found themselves caught in the crossfire of culture wars they never asked to be part of. I am truly heartbroken for the trans community who simply want to live their lives, be included, and have access to safe, supportive spaces. Trans girls experience the same threats as other women and girls - they are not a threat to us. They are our sisters. And so, with a very heavy heart, I will be stepping down as a Girlguiding ambassador with immediate effect. I stand with my trans sisters today and always. Inclusion makes us all stronger, and I will continue to use my voice to fight for a world where every girl - cis or trans - grows up knowing she ngs. N - Ashley x

The Tribunal held that propriety is a social construct and standards of decency change over time.

It also implicitly highlighted that the claimant was mistaken in believing the Supreme Court’s judgment granted her & her employer carte blanche to engage in discrimination. 🤭
216. The specific requirement under Reg 20(2) to provide separate toilet facilities for men and women is for the purposes of moral propriety. What is necessary for moral propriety does not necessarily depend upon a biological interpretation. Moral propriety is a social construct and standards of decency change over time. The GRA provides that a trans woman with a GRC is a woman for some purposes but not all. Some believe a trans woman is a woman; some do not. 217. Assuming that the parliamentary intention was to have a consistent meaning across the statutory provisions enacted under the 1974 Act, and recognising MK stated in evidence that once the Supreme Court judgment was issued in April 2025 she thought the position was clear and she would get female only toilets but instead L Ltd unnecessarily sought views on its interpretation. AL stated in evidence that they consulted with the union and with staff. MK's use of the toilet facilities 125. MK's evidence regarding her use of the toilet facilities was inconsistent.

Article text: The successful Supreme Court case brought by a group of “middle-aged women” against the SNP’s plans for gender self-ID is being considered as a film or TV series after stirring interest among TV producers and the journalist behind Mr Bates vs The Post Office. For Women Scotland (FWS) began its legal challenge, over the definition of a woman, after Nicola Sturgeon’s Scottish government proposals which would have brought in gender self-identification for anyone aged 16 and over without the need for a medical certificate. The campaign group won its case — the court ruling that a person’s sex was determined by biology — and now Nick Wallis, the reporter who acted as consultant on the ITV drama after writing a book exposing the Horizon scandal, has said he believes the story “lends itself’ to a TV adaptation.

So the EHRC are upset that government is doing... basic (mandatory) due diligence on their bathroom ban instead of rushing it through parliament before taking legal advice or waiting for the legal challenge to it.
