Always worth taking a moment to remind you if you’re pirating authors’ book you’re a shitty person. You can rail that our profession isn’t a profession all you want. You can paint yourself as an online revolutionary liberating ideas. It’s all bullshit.

You’re just a shitty person who hates writers.

Story time: I had a situationship a while back and we liked flirting with puns. I remember we got on one topic (let's say Star Wars) and were having jollies before meeting up. When we did, she showed me a Pic on her phone but forgot to close her browser: a Google for "Star Wars puns."

I wonder how my main stan Beyond Good and Evil does. Jade is a great female lead, but she has three male sidekicks, and all male antagonists. There's one fem member of the resistance, the sci institute head, and the planet governor
I think the orphans are about gender split. Street folk mostly men.
The proportion of female to male dialogue in Final Fantasy. #advx25

By the by, I think there needs to be clarity if the cost of the Bike Valet is $485,000/year, or $485,000 over two years - if it's per year, something hinky is going on with the math here, as someone who worked there.
Which number is bigger, Victoria?

$11,000,000 in NEW FUNDING (for a total of $89,850,000)
or
$485,000, no increase in funding (and forcing people to pay to not have their bike stolen, so you can save $72,000)

Someone please help budget this my city is dying

I honestly can't with Victoria right now.

We've got councillors calling for charging for the Bike Valet - $1/day they say - as if that'll fix the city's budget problem.

Folks, the Bike Valet averages 200 users/day, open about 360 days a year.

That would get you $72,000. IF EVERY USER STILL COMES.

Hey, hey! I've made my @rpgsite.net (and game critic) debut with a deeeeeep dive look at a game I've been anticipating for years: @somethingclassic.bsky.social's Quartet.

How does it compare to recent retro revival RPGs like Chained Echoes, Sea of Stars, and Eiyuden Chronicle? Let's find out.
Inspired by RPGs of the '90s, Quartet is Something Classic's proof that they've grown up and become more confident with age, and that there's room for continued growth to match their ambition. Our review: https://www.rpgsite.net/review/18986-quartet-review

Vancouver's last all-night drop in centre for street-based sex workers is facing an uncertain future as the city considers changing how its funded.
If the KCS closed there would be no other drop in centres for sex workers, anywhere in the city. That's dangerous.

In an interview this week, Ken Sim said that he had a list of all the times he said no to the Vancouver Police Department, and said a lot of their budget increases were out of the city's control.

We got the list. We looked at the budget.

Here is a fact check.

Socialism is the ideal democratic economic system; the collective ownership of the means of production.
State ownership, co-operatives, unions, etc., empower collective use of resources.
Dictatorships arise in capitalist systems, like Russia - an oligarchy or kleptocracy, as is happening in the US.
They have social democracy
They have corporations, stock market, things that socialism seeks to basically outlaw.
They can change their system through democracy.
Socialism doesn't really mesh with democracy in practice

In tonight's D&D session: one of my players uses Disguise Self to take on the appearance of a museum curator, corners that curator on the street, and attempts to persuade them that they're their future self, so they will hand over a new exhibit that is actually the egg of an otherworldly monster.

What left me shaking and crying after this was, it wasn't the split-second "oops" we cyclists regularly get - this driver SAT BEHIND ME at that light and made a PREMEDITATED CHOICE to PUSH ME OUT OF THE WAY WITH THEIR CAR to save _TWO_SECONDS_.

Motorists utter disregard for my life is breaking me.

At about noon my friend who works the Bike Valet was assaulted.

They were cycling to work WB in the Pandora bikelane and got cut off by a driver turning into McDonald's. Words exchanged; my pal left. The driver followed on foot to the Bike Valet, punched them in the face and fled.

A series exploring Guinan's long and probably fascinating life, including how she met Picard and became a bartender, called "The Listener."

Quinta Brunson might be a good pick for this. She has a similarly semi-husky voice to Whoopi Goldberg's.

Happy International Men's Day!

Reject toxicity, embrace empathy, remember Trans Men are Men, and above all, understand that narratives targeted at Restoring Your Rightful Place in Society are about putting you in a box and restricting your freedom and self-expression, not about empowering you.
