The late Warren Zevon’s final public appearance was a 2002 episode of his friend David Letterman’s ‘The Late Show’; fittingly, the talk show host gave a heartfelt and funny speech inducting Zevon into the Rock Hall last night. Happy birthday to one of the best frontmen of all time, Lux Interior of The Cramps. Lux gets a lot of love for his wild man stage antics, but not enough credit for being a great lyricist, able to weave references to car culture, B movies, and Surrealist art into so many of The Cramps' songs.
