Ten years ago today we shipped Firewatch. I say this every anniversary but it feels both like a lifetime ago and like it was yesterday. Thank you everyone who played it back then or played it today for the first time. Thank you to everyone on the team, I’m still so proud of what we made.

The onus on the individual to keep themselves safe from predatory companies, the extra steps to keep up with creators we value, and the lengths to sort out what's real and worth our attention is beyond exhausting.

Art is free. Anyone can draw with the most basic of supplies. What gen ai "democratizes" is access to someone else's time/skill/ability. Prompters only want the end fruits/rewards of someone else's hard work. They don't value art, much less the work involved in its creation.

"Human made" means "a human cared" and that's going to be more and more important
And the thing that will have the most value for me is that people will see my name and know that a human being worked on this book and did her best to make it the best, and most meaningful, book she could.

if you meet certain requirements (i believe it's income threshold), you may also get state taxes for free through FreeTaxUSA dot com. we hold hands every year and it's very straightforward and easy. they even tell you what to do if you have a 1099-NEC with income also listed on a MISC or K form!
