Three horses, two of them with human riders, scale a steep mountain slope. At the top is a beautiful sunrise. Below the mountain are dark storm clouds and fog. The mountain is shaped like a horse skull, and is emitting a subtle violet glow around the curves of bone. The group is being followed. A ghostly horse and human can barely be seen floating in the clouds. And the clouds themselves seem to have a very very vague human silhouette.

Also crucially we get paid when libraries buy our books! There is nothing to be sorry about ever in borrowing a fave author’s books from a library! It is one of the few “everybody wins” situations in life!

Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.

Limb asset destruction and replacement working. Lucky uses her threads to adapt equipment for Clover's body. So I used her FX theme'ing for the animation.

Fun touches: The limbs go ragdoll when broken. Clothing remains ruined even after replacing a limb.

to whomever at Panic drew this phone cord... i love it a lot. i always am impressed/mesmerized by it when i see this screen 💚
Photo of the Playdate handheld. On the screen is a corded phone. The cord is a very pretty pattern, and looks almost like a lasagna? It's hard to explain but it's like a rounded zig-zag. The part that's impressive to me is the fact that the pattern is at a slope. The screen is 400x240 pixels, so drawing this isn't as simple as just rotating the cord! It looks very clean and it's almost hard to tell that it's even pixellated at all.

the discourse on what jobs are acceptable to replace with generative AI reveals a lot about what we think of other people's jobs
recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence lies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't. By magicmosshka, yesterday's
