the year-end recaps by services can be fun, but they just make me think about surveillance being marketed as a fun toy

you *could* do your own look back through your music library. but why not let us tell you who you are?

🤠Happy Bandcamp Friday! So excited to announce that Dawn Again, our track for this year’s HoYoFair, is finally out on streaming and Bandcamp!

And we made an 8-min “making of” video for the track as well, now on YouTube

Please drop links to anti-transphobic primers here. Well sourced articles, patient and kind explainers, etc. Things for someone to read who hasn't read into it too much, might not know any trans people, isn't online much, but has been sent e.g. transphobic petitions or news articles. Thank you!

to anyone that listens to & supports my music, you are the something comforting that makes it all worth it, in spite of the streaming industry being the inequitable and corrupt behemoth that it is.

so instead of any stats, here’s a little cover.

thank you for listening ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎

LOVE when I’m trying to read an article and an ad gets in the way, and then after closing that ad another ad loads and bumps me to a different spot on the page, and then when I scroll back to where I was in the article the page reloads, this is how we want the internet to be

Sure, they've made an environmentally catastrophic mass hallucination disinformation plagiarism Clippy that will destabilize the world, but also their other goal is to replace human workers entirely and let us humans starve. A boycott of AI is the most important boycott of your entire life.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

If I open an article and the splash banner is AI slop, I close the tab. If you don't have the bare minimum of discernment to not do that, what else do you consider "good enough" to publish?
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Microsoft 365 probably is "ubiquitous" but it's so funny to hear that when it holds some of the worst software i have ever had to use lmao

it sucks that this is ubiquitous!!

Every great product, once it's established itself as a primary operator in its market, is deliberately made worse and worse by its provider in pursuit of greater profit and exploitation of the consumer. I don't know how we can observe this process & still believe in the rationality of capitalism.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea
