Here in the Scottish real world our present govt on election said 'Hospital parking will be free'
The result is that NHS funds are spent on car park maintenance, nobody can get parked after 07.30 and everyone moans about lack of parking.
Hosp estate car parks are now bigger than hospital sites:

We are told that it is impossible to reduce motor traffic in Edinburgh, but cities around the world show that a people-friendly alternative is not only possible, but improves the lives of those who live in them.

Marple’s access onto the Middlewood Way (National Cycle Network Route 55) has been given a long-fought-for redesign to modern, inclusive standards. It only took 40 years.

Full story and photos of a big local cycling win!

The comic swap is full, the seed library is full and there are plenty of books and toys available for the Easter break!

The best part? We no longer have to top most of it up ourselves. Local residents are doing that independently

Creating this space has been a true joy.

Waltham Forest. They are ace on this stuff. No H&S issues presented with a dedicated bike space.

Carla trailer. Amazing bit of kit
tobyspearpoint.bsky.social
Not only could I hire this trailer for free for a tip run from @wfcouncil but there was also a dedicated cargo bike parking space right next to where I needed at the tip. What's your local authority doing?

Very few Dutch cyclists wear helmets. Yet theirs are among the safest streets on earth. Why?

They understand it’s more beneficial to calm motor traffic, build dedicated infrastructure, and nurture a culture of everyday cycling. Not force the most vulnerable users to armour up.

That's Amsterdam plumber Job van Oostrum, who adds that there's "No need to worry about parking spaces, you can park right outside the door without any hassle"

A very clear response from London Fire Commissioner, Andy Rowe to a question at Fire Plenary last week from Emma Best AM about the impact of LTNs on fire brigade attendance times.

"We genuinely couldn't find any evidence of LTNs doing anything to our overall attendance times".

Great to see Accessibility Forum style engagement as part of this new guidance. I've been piloting these as a key part of the design process and it's been a really enlightening and positive experience.

In a patriarchal, car-dominated world that rewards “masculine energy” it’s actually a wildly subversive act to be a women on a bike. I have been yelled at, pulled, told I’m risking my children’s lives, flipped off, and ignored. And yet the joy I feel out weighs it all. #bikes destroy #patriarchy.

We are very regularly asked about e-bike battery safety, as it strikes at the heart of #ActiveTravel, #DisabilityCycling, and #RoadSafety. The Gov has recently released new statutory guidelines. Our full position statement, broadly in favour, is here: wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk/wheels-for-w...
