小川公代さんの『NHK100分de名著ブラム・ストーカー『ドラキュラ』』(NHK出版)を拝受。冒頭「いま必読の書なのです」に導かれるように一気に、けれど血の一滴一滴を味わうように頁を繰りました。同時代の宗教・医科学・帝国的言説を背景に、「科学と神秘の“あわい”」をたどるアプローチはさすが！

登場人物たちが内包する境界の混淆にこそ、交差的かつ複雑な世界の水源があることを再認識させられました――「人間の中にも怪物性はあり、怪物の中にも人間性はある」。同性愛者でもあった作者ストーカーとホイットマンとの交感、近代テクノロジーと反近代的直観の交錯、「ケアの倫理」へのまなざし。

シモーヌ・ヴェイユが凄いなと思うのは、例えば、服従は魂に必要な糧だという考え方ゆえに、無理やり力で屈服させられることは、合意による服従という生きる糧を失うことになると論を展開したりするところです。

なにか目から鱗の気持ちになりました。

さしあたり、実際に撮影したphotographyとAIで作成したpictureの見分けがつかない問題が、写真を撮ることの意味をじわじわと変えてしまうのは確かですよね。

I don't recall a lot about this photo except that I was driving around looking for interesting human interest photos for the Kelowna Daily Courier newspaper and spotted this fellow cutting the grass in front of his home along Ethel Street in Kelowna, B.C.Canada. It was taken sometime between 1983 and 1989. I used Ilford HP5 film in my Nikon film camera, probably with my 105mm lens.
