Watched The Harder They Come again tonight and was struck by how current all of its themes are. The starvation wages for cultural workers, the complicity between the police and drug traffickers, the intertwining between criminal notoriety and fame. All of that is still relevant in 2025. True kino

I'm not a Burial superfan but I love when he pauses a track for a split second and it makes you feel like your brain is glitching out, like when you're falling asleep

The open secret that Thomas King is not Indigenous at all is finally verified, and honestly it's a relief. Having him just confess this instead of going out kicking and screaming like so many before him causes a LOT less harm to Indigenous communities.

It still sucks though.

Oh man, RIP Udo Kier. I wish there were more opportunities to say “the blood of these whores is killing me” and have it be appropriate, because it’s a very fun thing to say.

It's worth saying that Jimmy Cliff, despite his global fame, has not escaped the fate of many classic reggae artists in having his back catalog neglected and mistreated

For example, his 1971 album for Island, Another Cycle, recorded at Muscle Shoals, has never been properly reissued

She sees your fandom as affirmation, your money as funding for the harm she causes to trans people.

It doesn't matter how you feel about her work, whether it was a formative touchstone or not. If you still buy the merch or hype up Harry Potter, you are complicit.
Hey yall not what I wanted to do on my birthday but let it be clear

"Death of the artist" is all well & good but you cannot Seperate the art from the artist when the artist is still alive, a terf & every penny they recieve reinforces their beliefs & is used to actively harm Trans folks!

It may only be a matter of time, but musically "AI" seems incapable of buildup and payoff, taking the listener on a journey, or any kind of compositional complexity. As a human music maker I find myself leaning into these elements and away from directionless ambience.

Less than a week after making his Topps baseball card debut, Tayler Saucedo has been DFA'd by the Mariners. I may have blocked someone who insisted, despite all evidence, that Sauce was still good – but that doesn't mean I won't be cheering for him wherever he goes. You play nine innings.
