Yeah I agree with this.
My concern is not that young people are given the "correct" bodies, or modifications or whatever because there is no such thing as a correct body.
My concern is that the system is insistent on doing deterrent coercion to young trans people seeking to actualise themselves.

This is also an issue of seeing someone as "naturally" fitting box A or box B, rather than as a unique individual negotiating their identity in a specific cultural context. There's no "correct", just "best fit" or "most comfortable". (There's a lot of "very fucking incorrect" though.)

One thing I'd like to add to this is that not only does conversion therapy not work, the academic work that launched an industry of abuse was based on fraud; Rekers and Lovaas' "Sissy Boy" experiment, the child subjected to it later took his own life

The problem of conversion therapy is, as ever, not that conversion therapy doesn't work (although that's true) but that it constitutes an act of violence to suppress almost exclusively vulnerable people's core psychological development and that is devastating.
