Hey idk who needs to hear this but if you are a person who has toilet related health issues- just buy the nice toilet paper!
It's like 2 extra dollars and you're significantly less likely to experience toilet paper related injury and also it just sucks less as an experience. Trust me.

Have opinions and ideas and write interesting essays and you actually get not only respect from your instructors but also like, you learn shit and you have more fun than just writing what everyone expects.
One time I titled an essay "it's too late to kinkshame Lestat, probably"

Another time, I convinced a lecturer to change the contents of her course because I wrote a good enough essay (the course was"gender in art" and entirely focused on cis men and women and I wrote an essay about 2nd wave feminism and deliberate exclusion of trans and nonbinary artists from academia)

If you misunderstand the question and give AI bad prompts and hand that in there's no way in hell you're gonna get a slide like that. Your AI isn't gonna do something interesting and nuanced enough to actually make the lecturer think "this person tried really hard they deserve some credit"

Oh also the year before I had made a mistake where I misunderstood what the lecturer wanted from an essay (she wanted a close reading, I gave a sort of contextual analysis) but my essay was "so well written she couldn't bring herself to fail me" and I got a C- and still passed the class.

My migraines were light sensitive and I couldn't swallow easily, so I went up to the no food allowed level of the library and rawdogged an essay on movie musicals on one of the boxy old school computers, squinting like hell. I wouldn't get glasses until later that year, but I needed them.

in 2014 at 10am i had a procedure to film my vocal cords and was on meds that were giving me migraines. During the procedure I decided i hated the essay I'd already written that was due at 2, and with a migraine and a numbed throat i went from the hospital to uni and rewrote the essay and got an A.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

So annoying that vegan cheese basically has less than 10% of the protein of cow cheese. I made "cheese" toasties for lunch bc I thought they'd have more protein than a peanut butter sandwich but checked the labels out of curiosity to see if I was right and I was very wrong. Boooooo

the example in the wiki article is deliberately hyperbolic but i think it's such a good example of the exact bullshit we're seeing with Grok & that style of rushed AI product. The video in my first post talks about a misclick enabling a version of Grok being enabled that should never have gone live

it's a thought experiment about a theoretical AI that destroys the world because it gets the instruction to make paperclips with no parameters that tell it to stop and it has no way to make that decision on its own bc that's not how AI works. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrum...

tech stuff is so badly named. every file type should be like photo (normal) photo (fancy) or [advanced options] and advanced options is where you get technical.
I shouldn't have to know things if I'm dabbling, is all. I should be able to just press buttons and see what happens and have it work
