Let’s be crystal clear: nothing said in the video linked below resembles the teachings of Jesus Christ. Christians everywhere must renounce the appropriation of their faith for these vile purposes. It feels like Biblical times, but these “Christians” have embraced practices Jesus spoke out against.
We are dealing with a Western Christian supremacist movement willing to see millions die in the name of racial purity. This is William Wolfe. A year ago he was invited with fourteen other faith leaders to the WH. Today he is praising ICE for killing peaceful observers. This is Christian fascism.

This is a very important thread for anyone thinking about #Minnesota and #America250. Many of us hold dear the values of the #AgeOfRevolutions. The coming months will reveal how well the US adheres to them. The people of Minnesota (& across the US) demonstrate that these values remain alive & well.
Almost 256 years ago, when British soldiers were occupying a city that was restless in their presence but still firmly part of the empire, a confrontation ended in the shooting death of five people, with 6 more wounded. This offset image of the Boston Massacre is so evocative. 1/

Earlier this year, my Dad gave me a bunch of family records. I haven’t had time to go through the whole box, but over the week I dug out a few things of my great grandmother’s. She grew up in Sandstone, #Minnesota. I am glad to have some roots there, even if distant. #GoodPeople live in #Minnesota.

Many of #ldnont ‘s traffic problems are caused by the education system. @tvdsb.bsky.social school catchments & hours encourage parent drop offs, & @westernu.ca & @fanshawecollege.bsky.social have inadequate incentives for staff to take the bus. The fixes are cheap, only requiring political will.

Doing some prep for this week’s #HiddenHistory of #swont. Here’s a great line about #LakeErie: “Erie is a dull lake, like a person one meets in life, neither beautiful nor ugly, neither strong nor weak, neither good nor bad.” (Harper’s Magazine, June 1873) #onhist #cdnhist

Here’s a #cdnpoli #railway story: Train A - call it 644 - gets in an accident. Train B - call it 44 - an express - leaves 2 hrs later. 44 passes 644 & gets well ahead. When 644 gets released, some jackass decides it is unfair 44 is ahead and holds it to let 644 pass & both do the milk run to #Ottawa

In a normal world, where our political system functioned well, #onpoli would be hot with the abject failure of the government to adequately address this crisis.

This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

This is behind a paywall. If it does not address the fact that Ontario’s provincial funding is +- $6,500 less per student than the national average, it is not worth considering. Tuition matters, but in Canada we value our #PublicUniversities & #Ontario has eroded the system. #cdnpse #onpoli #cdnpoli

The commenters think this isn't funny. But maybe "funny" isn't the point. Biting satire can wake people from complacency, as the story of "If Day", well-told by @averymonette.bsky.social on @activehist.bsky.social, demonstrates. #cdnhist

This piece is spot on & the needle to thread is a tight one. As #Canadians we need to support the structures & policies that made (past tense) the US such an important global leader. We must, however, increasingly & fully reject the Right Wing, Republican culture that led to this moment. #cdnpoli

Yes. This is nuts. Even if space was needed, one way to teach kids about making choices is to make them part of the process. Given that trustees were not in the loop, and the school’s librarian was upset, this decision stinks of top down management & much of what is wrong with schools today. #onpoli
I'm shocked & angry to hear over 10,000 books were trashed at a #ldnont school as part of a "revitalization project". Harry Potter novels, Anne of Green Gables, The Kite Runner, The Colour Purple, Lord of the Flies....
This is censorship.
