With @davidgilbert.bsky.social : We retraced the history of the #TeslaTakedown, which began with a BlueSky post + has evolved into a nationwide movement that's led thousands to protest outside Tesla dealerships. It's laying the infrastructure for other political fights

The Definitive Story of Tesla Takedown
In February, a Bluesky post caught the eye of Alex Winter. The result is a coalition of environmentalists, anti-Trump advocates, and federal workers that’s been hyping Tesla’s stock slide ever since.

Blocking Nazis, trolls, and fascists doesn’t make it an “echo chamber.” People need to stop gaslighting us into thinking we have to listen to Nazis and debate trolls in order to be informed.

A transgender soldier who’s being pushed out of Army checked herself into hospital for suicidal thoughts.

She arrived and found other suicidal transgender soldiers there too.

www.nytimes.com/2025/06/06/u...
Sergeant Becraft was hospitalized this spring for thoughts of suicide and was put in an Defense Department inpatient program for depression. She said four of the 20 patients she met in the program were transgender people dealing with the trauma of the new policy.

RIP: Johnathan Joss, the voice of John Redcorn on #FamilyGuy. Murdered for being #gay. In #Texas where this #HateCrime is not being investigated as such. His 3 #dogs were killed and his house burned down. Spread the word. #LGBT. Police must investigate fully.

Jackson: “[T]he Court has now apparently determined … that it is in the public's interest to have the lives of half a million migrants unravel all around us before the courts decide their legal claims.”
The Government says no more than that today. Yet, somehow, the Court has now apparently determined that the equity balance weighs in the Government's favor, and, I suppose, that it is in the public's interest to have the lives of half a million migrants unravel all around us before the
courts decide their legal claims. Even assuming a likelihood that the law permits the Government to terminate parole grants in this fashion, I would let the courts decide that highly consequential legal issue first-consistent with standard stay practices and, especially, the necessary harm-centered focus. Instead, the Court allows the Government to do what it wants to do regardless, rendering constraints of law irrelevant and unleashing devastation in the process.

DOGE will absolutely (on lost tax revenues alone) cost more money than any claimed savings
carlquintanilla.bsky.social
NYT: One estimate finds that DOGE’s “firings, re-hirings, lost productivity and paid leave of thousands of workers” will actually COST taxpayers “upward of $135 billion this fiscal year.”

Ok so yeah, this has quickly become the #1 misunderstanding about the canceled grants

the grants are not “subsidies” or “entitlements” to Harvard or Princeton or whatever

they aren’t going into universities’ endowments

they are competitive contracts won by these universities to do research
mayasen.bsky.social
There is a PR narrative quickly emerging about “entitlement” of elite universities, as if this $ is some sort of subsidy

Harvard & others must counter this quickly

The $ doesn’t flow into Harvard’s coffers - this is grant money, most of which goes to research the govt has agreed has social value
