Convention auctions are *lethal*. I just bought a late 70s Yamaha dreadnought. I'm not supposed to leave with more gear than I brought!

I justify it on the basis that while I have a guitar already, it is not a *good* guitar. Now I have a good, a *really* good guitar.
When did I step through a portal and end up in hell?
Bus. Not bun. Although transit rabbits would be interesting!
Heading back to OVFF--as per tradition, I forgot something and had to go home to get it. XD

On the plus side, the new hotel is a 15 minute bun ride from home, practically door to door.
New hotel this year, and the layout is almost exactly the reverse of the old one, so everyone's hesitating at every junction trying to not resort to about 20 years of muscle memory (self included). :D
She was great at the Pegasus concert last night--but then, when isn't she great in concert? :)

Also now I'm wondering if I can twist Shel Silverstein's "A Boy Named Sue" into something about guys who knit. XD
I know you have several songs on the theme but I didn't know there was a proper collection... but now I do! (also, "Eleanor Roosevelt's Knitting" is another favorite anyway)
Granted it's crochet rather than knitting, this is my project during the convention. It's going to grow up to be a full sized throw and I continue to underestimate the amount of cotton yarn it's going to take. ;)
Several years ago, they showed "A Night at the Opera" during during the summer movie series, and they ran "What's Opera, Doc?" before it.

It was like seeing it for the first time, and a reminder that these were *made* to be seen on the big screen. Wow.
A toast to my 35th (at least?) #OVFF! Time to enjoy the opening Mad Hatter's Tea Party!
My Scrooges will always be Alastair Sim, Albert Finney, and Michael Caine.

Heh. The Three Scrooges. Nyuk nyuk nyuk!
There already is one (Conservapedia and I'm not giving them the oxygen of a link—to paraphrase the late great Linda Smith, never mind the oxygen of publicity, I'm not all that happy with them having the oxygen of oxygen) and it's doing about as badly as you'd expect: very.

Saying that to a corporate drone makes you an excellent person.
Dolt 45 tearing down the East Wing at the same time as millions turned out to tell him he's a jerk is classic abuser behavior: "Oh yeah? I'm gonna break this thing that means a lot to you, screw you!"

And the fact that GQP congressfolk haven't complained only speaks to the depth of the cult.
Democrats' message should be "JFC, what the Technicolor hell is WRONG with you?!?"
7) 'Steal This Disc', Rykodisc compilation
I mean, holy Bob, what a compilation! The Residents, Old and In the Way, Frank Zappa, and so many more! youtu.be/mCvauu1IVyY?...

6) 'The Avalon Suite', Merryjest Starchild
Full disclosure, @merryjest.live is a personal friend, but god DAMN he brings the fire here. File with Talis and Sooj as being well deserving of more attention (and I'm a sucker for organ music, blame Bach for that). www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8Ch...

5) 'Mischief', S.J. Tucker
@sjtuckermusic.bsky.social is another performer who deserves to be FAR more widely known than she is. 'Ravens in the Library' and 'Cheshire Kitten' alone make this album a treasure. The only way to improve it is to add 'Little Bird'. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Voa...

4) 'Archetype Cafe', Talis Kimberley
Don't misunderstand me, @taliskimberley.bsky.social is ABSOLUTELY one of my top favorite performers, but she's not as widely known as she *deserves*. When I first heard her at OVFF in 2000 it was life-altering (come back soon, Talis!). youtu.be/QTcrhu-mLWM?...

3) 'My Life in the Bush of Ghosts', David Byrne/Brian Eno
Eno strikes again, in the company of Talking Heads' Byrne. Found sound, sampling, world beat, all brilliantly combined. www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9WU...
