Just over 90 days ago some human dumped this beautiful boy off at a trailer park overnight, in front of a coworkers home two counties away. I've never had a dog before. My children never asked for one. He needed a home fast. Full shelters, big dog..it wasn't looking good.

It’s not a great deal if you don’t need it. And especially this year, others really need support. So for all of us who have enough, let’s refuse to get sucked into the holiday shopping frenzy and share instead of shop. We don’t need more stuff, we need communities where all our neighbors are safe.

I think a lot about the story Carl Reiner told: he’d have been a sewing machine repairman if not for a free WPA drama class. That led to other theater work, to Sid Caesar, to Mel Brooks, and all the rest. All because of one free class paid for by a government that felt the arts were worth teaching.
