halloween is the best holiday because it’s the one that’s the most community focused. also because it’s the horniest

“They were careless people…they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”

Haha alerting the neighbors/fire department would have been the action, but thankfully they were just not self aware lol
My partner and I were about to jump into action when we noticed there was a pattern to the puffs and no smell/sound.
It was super (not) cool earlier when my neighbor decided to fire up his (professional?) Fog machine in the garage, so that I could look out the window and see "smoke" billowing until I realized what was going on with it sitting unattended.

Use your fog machines responsibly!!

From an Evanston resident filming an arrest at Oakton/Asbury ~an hour ago:

"He was being very violent with her, I said ‘You got to stop that,’ and he said, ‘Step back or I’ll fucking shoot you.‘ I step back, and then I continue to record, at which point he turned around and pointed a gun at me.”

hi we're all dressed like monsters and dead things while we embody the generosity, kindness, and joy that being human should be all about every day of our lives

Halloween is the best holiday because it's all about people giving neighbors and strangers treats for free and telling kids how awesome they are.

Noticed a mutual on LinkedIn had changed their entire profile and job history to match a job they were trying to worm their way into.

We need to go back to calling references and asking for demonstrable projects. Using Chat GPT to match for a job you’re not skilled in is fraud. Plain and simple.

In a major victory, a court ruled the Trump administration must use emergency funds to provide food stamps to Americans.

I am trying to raise $200 today for a local disabled friend who is losing #SNAP tomorrow (yes, the court decision is good; no it will not restore things immediately & they need aid anyway!).

If you can contribute, please send with a note that says (SNAP AID): www.paypal.com/paypalme/kar...

For Halloween I'm going to the bank, because almost nothing is scarier than looking at your finances

No one is putting drugs in your kids’ Halloween candy, parents.

No one can afford to give away free drugs in this economy anyway. They’re lucky they’re getting candy.
For normal people, being kind and generous to others is always an option! Don't forget it!
And blaming democrats lol you buddy you run the 3 branches of government and still cant do as much evil as you want
Republicans literally are advocating for the act of starving children. We should reject that as an utter failure of being a person.

Yes, this should be the Republican message. "Fuck poor people." Keep it up. You're doing great.
Brooke Rollins: "I guess the silver lining in all of this is that we're having a national conversation on our SNAP program. This has shined a light on a program that especially under the last administration has just become so bloated."

Gen Z, and low budget people, are asked to reject ALL the pleasures of a consumer society while also being bombarded by commercial messages telling them buying stuff will make them happy.

No conflict there. Nope. None at all.

Starting tomorrow, 22 million Americans will see their monthly health insurance premium costs more than double
In most states open enrollment for Affordable Care Act health insurance starts Nov. 1.

This year 22 million people are about to see their premiums more than double, on average.

At the heart of the government shutdown is the battle to keep these huge costs down.

On the occasion of Halloween, @newrepublic.com asked me to write about what’s going on in Chicago and I wanted you all to know what randomized terror feels like. And also that as the federal government fails our kids, everyday Chicagoans are showing the courage of trying to protect them.
ICE Is Terrorizing Chicago for Halloween—and Parents Are Fighting Back
Fear and a whiff of tear gas hang over festivities this year. In response, even people who aren’t usually politically engaged are mobilizing.
