A recommendation for the sickos who vibe with slow, atmospheric nonsense, full of imagery that evokes Lovecraft (by way of Fulci and Rollin).

DARK WATERS (1993) is full of the blasphemous gothic, slumbering ancient gods, moldering tombs, desolate cliffsides as the scene of monstrous rituals, etc

A piece from last year, A CHRISTMAS CAROL poster for a charity poster project. wanted a sad, cold, lonely feel. The type is taken from the credits of the old film, as i thought they were lovely and wanted to re-use them!

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

Hot take perhaps, but the environmental impact of AI is far worse and more worrying than the plagiarism or copyright issues... and the conversation largely being focused on the latter is honestly frustrating.

“Why are folks getting dumber?” Because they don’t read. “Why aren’t men as romantic & poetic as they used to be?” Because they don’t read. “Why are people so vulnerable to propaganda?” “Why is everyone a conspiracy theorist?” Because they don’t read. Because they don’t read.

all the fake AI trash really contradicts one of the main ways we're told capitalism operates, with capitalists identifying wants/needs & developing products & services to meet those. turns out you can skip that step & just pretend. nigh everyone hates AI and it makes no money but it's everywhere

People clown on it for being Space Pocahontas but Avatar 2 is genuinely the most clear eyed non indie release about how colonialism actually works as a money making enterprise.

Don’t wanna start shit with this person but bizarre takes like this is why bluski feels like tumblr circa 2010 in best and worst ways: a hyperfixated dilettante giving an accurate description of a genre convention and then proclaiming that it’s bad and gross for not fitting some arbitrary criteria

The fact that not enough people use this shit-ass technology that is always wrong and it costs too much to constantly maintain so it can't ever make any profit is, to me, very fucking funny.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?
