I think expectation played the greater role. People responsible for education and development opportunities were more intentional and resourced in “gifted” spaces. No way I’m in this position without that foundation. The want to was finding my lane after getting in the door.
If you're a former gifted kid my question is how much of your success is based on what you were expected to do vs what you wanted to do?

The best part about revisiting childhood hobbies as an adult with some bread is you can just go get it all.
