this is further corroboration of my theory of the private sandwich, that many of us have a sandwich (often stemming from late childhood) that we make only for ourselves.
This is so oddly specific — I did this as a kid! I’ve never seen anyone else do it and forgot about it until I saw this picture.
He's a 10 but he makes PB&J and instead of creating sandwiches he eats each slice separately.

People are making art with $6 cans of spray paint. With BIC pens. Hell, with DIRT. You just need talent and time. Or, maybe you can pick one of the other 50 billion forms of artistic expression that exist. Write a book. Sing. You'll get a hell of a lot more respect switching lanes than stealing.

I think that's partially why there's so much vitriol levied at artists in these arguments—bc the artist's desire to create has been conflated by AI enthusiasts with a desire to make money. art for them exists to signify status, success—so theirs has to instantly be "good," which is why they need AI.
