I love when the author is so out of ideas they just write about how they're out of ideas

You know oddly enough the thing that keeps causing me hesitation in my fascist run of Disco Elysium isn't my own conscience, it's not wanting to look bad in front of Kim

A good thing about AI slop like the Cruise/Pitt fight thing is that it highlights just how repetitive and soulless MANY movie fight scenes are. They might as WELL be slop.
Some top-of-my-head things to keep in mind to make your fights human:

Everyone dreams about what would have happened if they got in early on Microsoft, on Amazon, on Apple, on Facebook, these technologies that changed the world. Flying cars and space travel and robots are what idiots think are the future, and Elon made his fortune on these suckers.
February 11, 2026 at 11:37 PM
Like I said before, Elon is the natural endpoint of the tech startup mythology, the idea you're getting in on the ground floor of the next big revolution with a special super genius. His claims are absurd, but they're what gullible idiots think the future is going to look like.
Everything in me wants to explain why this is blatantly ridiculous, but what would be the point?

It's not about presenting a real goal they're going to attempt. It's about lying to stupid investors champing at the bit to invest in a SpaceX IPO.

There are no consequences.
insane to be reporting this stuff with a straight face. like what are we doing here man

Played Doraemon Story of Seasons and it's really funny that they changed the names of the characters to sound less Japanese in a game that only has Japanese voice over

Last week the far right started peddling a narrative that the outrage over Epstein is a moral panic. Today, like clockwork, a more polite version of that narrative appears in the Atlantic.

This is the ur-grift: itโ€™s not the get-rich-quick scheme that makes you rich, itโ€™s teaching other people how to sell it to someone else.
To be very clear, that lady in the NYT article is not making any money with her hundreds of AI slop books.

She makes money by *convincing people* she makes money that way and getting them to pay her to teach them how to do it.

It's an evolved MLM, and the NYT is helping market it.
