January 6 was like a much dumber version of Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch and yet a plurality of American voters were like, Yeah, let’s give that guy the nuke codes again. An absolutely world historical debacle of societal ignorance. I’ll never understand it.

Maybe this is why I'm not a Beltway journalist, but I think the fact the United States is about to invade Venezuela to take their oil is an 100X bigger story than Trump's chief of staff going on the record with Captain Obvious characterizations of their dysfunctional regime

Most profound writing I read in 2026 was "The Emotional Labor Behind AI Intimacy" by a Nairobi man who dreamed of working in air traffic control but instead winds up sexting & chatting w ppl who think they're talking to AI (while AI trains on him). 16 pages & free - READ IT data-workers.org/michael/

This really depresses me. I thought picky clients were jerks but that they just cared about the job a bit too much. Turns out many don't actually care. They just resent working with creatives and like holding power over others.
I feel the clients now using GenAI to do stuff and going "good enough" when they used to nitpick at every last detail is due to them finding out all those nit picky changes take time and work they cant be bothered to put in.

"I was shooting the remains of the boat, the people just got in the way." Again, worth noting that this was exactly the defense that U-852's captain used in his post-WW2 war crimes trial for the Peleus Incident. He was found guilty and shot.
Won't the whole SOF community be relieved when doing water survival training that properly packed cocaine acts as a flotation device. Bradley "I was shooting the remains of the boat, the people just got in the way."

I'm convinced that stories like this help the movement. Regular Post readers already hate anything that inconveniences drivers, and this won't change their minds. Meanwhile, normal folks see this, share it and, after even a second of thought, think it's ridiculous to be against safer streets.

This is a really good thread about fandom, art, culture, engagement and escapism in our current context. It reminds me that I should get back to reading Marx's new book "Blank Space" that explores why, in the West at least, culture has stagnated and gone into a cycle of remakes with no innovation.

We are in another golden age of film and it’s like nobody really acknowledges it. With good reason, I suppose. A lot going on. But this might be the final human-centric era of cinema. Get it while you can.
