for about a long time there was a 20-foot-long bike lane in Silver Spring, MD--it started at a corner and then became parking spaces, but it turns out it was just the earliest tiny section of a much longer lane that was completed two decades later

2014-ish was also when Yiannopolous, O'Keefe, Turning Point, (maybe also FIRE?) started encouraging students to video professors who were supposedly indoctrinating them in Marxist/Communist/gender-queer blah blah blah--maybe that's partial context for more anger and contention in the classroom

I think the underlying assumption when someone says, as Kruse does, that not voting communicates . . . nothing is that the folks performatively declaring their vote-withholding probably weren’t persuadable anyway

I agree, but the only way is to build up other parties at the local and state level (like Working People's Party in NY)--DSA, Greens, other insurgent parties aren't winning elections for a national office any time soon
