Very important vote. It makes repealing ICE surge funding the mainstream position in the party, with bipartisan support.
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

I know we all have a lot going on right now, truly, but we can't let this government further batter and bully Cuba, a country the US has actively tried to make unliveable for over half a century.

Can't say I've ever interacted with the Canadian government, either as a citizen needing services or a citizen trying to understand and engage politics, and concluded there are too many people on staff.

per @thetyee.ca, one such warehouse being bought by ICE is owned by canadian billboard and grocery magnate jim pattison
BIG news from @bloomberg.com, which confirms that ICE has gone ahead and *purchased* multiple commercial warehouses with the aim of converting them into mass detention camps.

This is likely to be the big detention story of 2026 — literal warehousing of people.

I know all eyes are on Minneapolis, but there's a fast-approaching nightmare in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump is revoking protected status for tens of thousands of Haitians living there on Feb. 3.

Reportedly, on Feb. 4, 1000 ICE agents are arriving to remove this population. Ethnic cleansing.

please remember that no matter how many “ICE is losing in MN” articles you read today, there is still a very real, urgent, ongoing crisis in Minnesota.

people need food and they need rent money. that has not changed.

What @prisonculture.bsky.social always says is: find the thing you can do and do it. You can’t do all the things. (Or something like that but more eloquent). I remind myself when I feel I should be writing marching observing delivering organizing meeting reporting shopping
I paid my therapist a zillion dollars to tell me this, so I’m passing it on to anyone else in MN who needs to hear it:

Think of taking time away to recharge not as not doing the work, but as doing quality control for the work. You’re not going to be able to show up to do it well if you’re depleted

Do not believe the talk of deescalation — there hasn’t been any deescalation yet.
After executing Alex Pretti on Saturday, ICE has shifted to primarily targeting bus stops and elementary schools in my community this week. I cannot overstate how much of the ICE activity in my community is just targeting places where little kids are.
Video from this morning shows ICE agents deploying tear gas outside a Minneapolis preschool as parents shout, “This is a preschool! There’s kids here!”

i think about this a lot. the old psych unit at the uni hospital was named for a CCF MLA who was a farmer then served the people and sat on the uni board for many years. when they did renovations, the new psych unit was named for the benefactors who donated money for it. those are not the same!!!
i strongly believe that our healthcare and university systems should be restructured to stop relying on wealthy, reputation-laundering donors. it’s perverse
