The likelihood is that the Nobel Committee (who are highly ‘political’) considered this very carefully, choosing a candidate who would not upset Trump and draw his anger towards Norway with sanctions etc. Remember Norway needs NATO protection from Russian invasion and sabotage of its infrastructure.

They didn’t need to. She’s seeking his support to gain power. That’s how these things work. People seem to think just because she opposes Maduro she’s a “liberal” - she really isn’t. She’s from a very wealthy family and vehemently “pro-business” and anti-union. I suspect her halo will fall.

Much as it stick in the craw, she probably did ring to butter him up and solicit his support for the overthrow of the Maduro regime. She’s an extremely rich, free market, vehemently anti-socialist, libertarian. I suspect if she ever gets in her pro-democracy credentials will dissolve.

You’ll have to shift the regime before you have your Nuremberg. It took 12 years, a world war involving 70 nations and the death of 85m people to achieve that last time. If only 3% of those who didn’t vote in 2024 had turned up to stop this in the first place. But you’d have had a civil war then.

Yes, it would help Starmer attack Farage on this front if his first headline wasn’t about accepting clothes etc for him and his family from a multi-millionaire. The people who vote for Farage assume “they’re all at it” but at least Farage goes for the big bungs. Like Trump - big, blatant greed

What WJC did was utterly reprehensible and would have been a sacking offence in most jobs. Yes, what Trump is, is in a different league but saying “our guy was only a little bit rapey” is not the great defence many seem to think it is. Actions have consequences.

I know it doesn’t say much about me but I think a lot of decent people fail to understand just how mindlessly horrible people can be and how utterly unrepentant they are. Trump sleeps well, we like to think evil men suffer but until they are punished they are mostly happier with themselves than us.

Why she supports his nuttiness? Because she’s a malign, status-grabbing, sociopath. She shows every sign of that including the whining and the victimhood. Sometimes people are just bad, there may be all sorts of explanations as to why (look at Trump) but I don’t know or care.

It’s absolutely appalling and there should be justice sought for her and all the others this regime has killed, injured, falsely jailed or injured in a thousand other ways but it should be Trump and the others who are held personally responsible, jailed and deprived of their fortunes.
