Nope. This is one of the original LRVs for the blue line repurposed as a test train. Metro Transit has already put the new Siemens LRVs for SWLRT in revenue service so they outnumber the older bombardiers at this point.

I find it so frustrating to watch non-revenue busses make the return trip...

Having all-day all-direction service will be grand.

So glad to get these final shots before I ran out of power.

Around 3pm they turned on the overhead wires and operated the train under its own power for the first time! So cool to see the letter boards light up and the bell of the bombardier ring at Southwest Station.

More from today's initial light rail vehicle roll down the Southwest LRT route. Construction began in 2018 and Metro Transit says passengers will ride in 2027. Over the Kenilworth Channel, leaving W Lake St Station, arriving at W 21st St Station, exiting the Kenilworth tunnel.

Today marks the first train pull out to Southwest Station in Eden Prairie. I'll be out taking photos as it moves along at a snails pace.

The program gives out up to $50,000 grants to artists to fill an otherwise vacant space. The program started with a $250k budget and has been expanded to more than $1 million in the next.

Shout-out to @katiecashman.bsky.social for championing this program in our community.

THREAD: this ties into a video I did a few days ago about subsidies and their intended purpose, which is to encourage farmers into economically irrational behavior…

On one hand, reducing car use reduces urban pollution.
But on the other, everyone likes it and cities become more livable
Average nitrogen dioxide concentration in Paris has fallen significantly Her proposals have faced pushback — from right-leaning politicians, a car owners’ association and suburban commuters, who say that targeting cars makes their lives more difficult.

But last month, Parisians voted in a referendum to turn an additional 500 streets over to pedestrians. A year earlier, Paris had moved to sharply increase parking fees for SUVs, forcing drivers to pay three times more than they would for smaller cars. The city has also turned a bank of the Seine from a busy artery into a pedestrian zone and banned most car traffic from the shopping boulevard of Rue de Rivoli.

Carlos Moreno, a professor at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University and a former adviser to the city, said the French capital has developed “an urban policy based on well-being.”

High-income neighborhoods think that low-income people moving in will lower property values.

Carver County, in conjunction with the Met Council, will expand Transit Link service to operate on weekends starting 9/6.

Looks like one will now be able to go to Baylor for their star parties, camp overnight, and come back the next day.

1 of 3 bike parking lots at the MN State Fair this week:

Evidence that the Twin Cities’ investment in a network of protected bike infrastructure is paying off.

More and more people are using bikes for more and more trips.

Hennepin County’s proposed layout for Lyndale Avenue S. falls short.

It’s not a people-first design. It’s a decorated, street-level parking lot, dusted with the occasional confetti of mode shift virtue signals.

No protected bikeways, 24/7 bus lanes, or green space throughout the entire corridor.
