Biked with my kid to a store on Lyndale. Drivers were honking and yelling so we rode on the sidewalk like outlaws.

The only bike parking? On top of a curb. Totally accessible. We locked to a railing instead.

But hey, no need for changes, right? Lyndale’s perfectly fine.

To the bicyclist who we saw hit by a driver near the Blaisdell YMCA this morning: I'm glad you're ok physically, and hope you can work through the psychological trauma that comes from being hit by a driver.

Be *extra* careful if traveling westbound on the detour.

Drivers are not looking for westbound traffic on 28th and I know of at least one crash (last night, car/scooters) already since the detour went in.

Upcoming closure of a section of the Midtown Greenway between Bryant and 5th Ave from Oct 14 to 27. Detour is 28th Street.

Shared use paths (bikes & peds sharing space w/o separation) are great for low density & low traffic areas.

Lyndale Ave S is neither of those.

It would be a HUGE mistake to put a shared use path here.

For safety & accessibility we need bus lanes, wide sidewalks & protected bikelanes.

And wouldja look at that: the City of Minneapolis actually enforcing the rules on a block where there is basically always a motor vehicle parked in the bike lane. There must be an election going on or something.

Yeah, we don't really do real bollards for protecting people much in Minneapolis. Something about supposedly making snow removal difficult.

There were concerns from residents about moving a local bus route two blocks off Bryant, which had been a transit corridor since the days of streetcars.

There were a handful of very loud elderly nimby residents who wouldn't listen to anyone, as usual.

Almost all opposition during the planning phase was the loss of on-street parking, mainly from business owners who don't live there and/or have off street parking. Most of the corridor's parking was underutilized.
