Happy birthday, Brett ❤️

Here’s his last single. It’s as close to perfect as you can get: brettshady.bandcamp.com/album/patter...

Great video of Double Bluff at the Betsey Trotwood, London two weeks ago. Thanks for sharing this @stringbeanjen.bsky.social, as well as the other three songs you posted www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxUW...

Any #vinylsanta people reading this, take note of the final point.
Well:
1) I file right to left, so that’s the back end of the library section
2) That’s The Mozart Lounge LP
3) I don’t actually own a copy of No Parlez (shocka)

There’s some fab songwriting and compositional touches on this album << pointing @assistant.bandcamp.com towards this!

Enjoyed the use of brass on Trespass, and the Croydon Billy Bragg-ness of Uniform.

Jimmy Cliff’s Legends slot at Glastonbury some 20+ years ago was more than worth the entrance fee. Not sure if went to bed or just settled down after a night of dancing but his set is memorable despite much of the festival being vague to me now.

I was initially concerned, when I received an email at the weekend, that ‘SubstandardStack’ was trying to scam me, but the actual story is even worse.
This has lost me thousands of pounds (not to mention book sales) and put me in a state of terror and panic. I urge anyone thinking of moving their list from Substack, or wanting to know more about how Substack works, to read it....
I'm not going back to Substack. I will continue to post my newsletters from Ghost. But I did have to get back in there, just to post this and let people who thought I'd vanished know about this utter nightmare: substack.com/home/post/p-...

Long drive. Very tired.

But!

Fab gig last night. Got to meet @colincassells.bsky.social which was an unexpected delight.

Bands were ace. Live music is the best.

The new @thejustjoans.bsky.social songs are sounding pretty damn awesome live rn. Can’t wait for their new album, out in Jan through @fikarecordings.com so keep an eye out for that.

I’m near Fife. It’s cold. In my head I’m singing “You’re as cold as Fife”.

Reminder that if you’re in or near Glasgow then this is happening tomorrow evening. If it’s even half as amazing as the London show it’ll be incredible. Therefore it’ll be incredibly incredible. Don’t miss it!

Hope to say hello! I have a goodie bag* for everyone attending, too!

*Sweets and badges.

Not sure, but your story made this pop into my head, which probably hasn't happened since the 1980s: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRfR...

Recovering from the long drive from south London to Scotland by listening to lots of indiepop classics (new and old) in preparation for tomorrow night's The Felt Tips gig.

Better spot for an early lunch. Sushi, in case you wondered.

In a non-descript car park somewhere near Stoke-on-Trent. How’s your day?
November 20, 2025 at 9:01 AM
Right. I have to be up about 4am to get driving for 8 hours or so. With breaks for coffee and nourishment (and fuel for the car, although it’s a hybrid so doesn’t need much). So bedtime for me.

I don't listen to as much doomy metal stuff as I once did. This, I reckon, is as much shoegaze as it is metal. From Norway. Throaty vocals over melodic guitar and thashy drums.

(I'm sure someone can alert me to the sub-genre this falls into.)

No AI was used in the production of this artwork. Instead, I commissioned an artist to create it. Cost less and supported someone in their artistic endeavours. Double win.

It comes with music pressed onto a bio-vinyl disc. You can own a copy, too 😉

Packing stuff for my trip to Scotland, which starts tomorrow around 4.30am when I jump in my tiny car and start the long drive to Fife. I’m taking some LPs and t-shirts to the Glasgow gig that The Felt Tips are playing on Saturday. No it a huge amount as 2 boxes is all I can carry!

Sometimes my old “professional” interests intersect my current interests. I think this is worth a share, for those who make things. Like music.

Having a Butcher Boy listening session.

After chatting last week to @petepaphides.bsky.social about the anthology he put together, I realised I didn’t know half the songs. Which is terrible of me given how much I’m loving it now.

Been going through some old 12-inch and CD singles recently, which reminded me of some good old days back in the 90s. So I popped down some words about one in particular.
