The killer in this case should never be allowed to drive again.

But why are the people who design our roads to keep producing this result never held to any account?

(Though that isn't the maddest bit. The maddest bit is that houses built since 1991 are taxed on the basis of what they *would have been worth had they existed in 1991*, which produces odd results: when my in-laws moved from a three-bed house to a new retirement flat, their council tax went up!)

Britain is one of the world’s richest countries. Why do a third of children live in poverty?

It is a political choice - years of austerity, real wage cuts, regressive taxation, unchecked profiteering, disappearance of social housing, hijacking of govts by corporations/rich.

Child poverty has reached a record high in the United Kingdom as the country’s cost of living soars and its social security safety net falters following years of government austerity.

Twenty years since I had to sit and listen to David Miliband pretending that postponing council tax revaluation was a brave political decision, rather than a cowardly mistake.
These reports the Government could revalue council tax bands F, G and H don't make sense to me. Here's what could actually be going on:

Good lecture. In addition to the craven cowardice of the BBC in editing out a key line in his talk, I’m equally dismayed by the fact that the audience (with a couple of exceptions) was composed of the very elites he criticised including the co-founder of the (Paul GB News) Marshall Institute…
This has happened against my wishes, and I’m genuinely dismayed by it.

Not because people can’t disagree with my words, but because self-censorship driven by fear (Trump threatening to sue the BBC) should concern all of us. /3

I guess the dwindling band of Starmer-loyalists will soon be defecting to the Greens, and lecturing those remaining in the Labour fold about the dangers of splitting the anti-Reform vote?

Or they could just acknowledge that what's really splitting that vote is the behaviour of Starmer's government
