The majority of the public believes lots of insane things, and at different points in history it’s been significantly worse. If our standard is “If most people believe it, it must be true, and bare minimum we must act like it’s true,” it locks us into many delusions and some outright horrors
Well… considering our entire culture and governmental framework is based on public opinion that seems to be the operating condition. Correct? Starts to go down to arguments we are rehashing today in some ways…

I will say it’s exceedingly clear you’ll never be a successful politician. Good thing.

Auto text generation is worthless and has hit a quality cap, autoimage gen has eradicated the concept of photographic truth, and autovideogen is likely going to be the fascist's best friend.

Guys, I'm thinking that generative AI is bad for human civilization on the whole tbh

Wow. BBC journalists are now not even allowed to report the censored line from my Reith Lecture, that Trump is “the most openly corrupt president in American history.”

You can hear how carefully they’re forced to tiptoe around it. So chilling...

I actually beg journalists to stop acting like Trump is an intelligent human being instead of an old man with a clearly barely functioning brain.

This article heavily implies that ICE is being used in a custody dispute to help Karoline Leavitt's brother get his son and have the mother locked up in ICE detention

Mara Jade standalone film to launch a new Star Wars trilogy, but we just ignore everything Disney has made and only do strict EU
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

alas, there's a lot of sanewashing in this piece - even as it expresses frustration in RFK, it treats him as a legitimate, good faith actor in a way that's just not true.
Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

I've said this before, but any legal system that forces children to make life-changing decisions is one that has lost any moral or ethical valance, and should be ignored and mocked.
8/ So why are children being left to languish in federal shelters?

Advocates for immigrant kids believe it's to pressure them to self-deport. Last week, lawyers obtained a document the government provides to kids in the shelter system:

The amount of internet users that have been revealed to be the product of botfarms and astroturfing campaigns is depressing but not surprising, but also I find this weirdly freeing?

There's no point in engaging with anyone who isn't here in good faith anyway, but that it's likely a bot defangs them

Nine Russian “volunteers” killed their escort after deciding not to go fight in Ukraine. Taken straight from prison to the front under contract, they murdered the convoy driver en route and are now on the run in Leningrad region. Russian police are actively searching the outskirts of Kudrovo.
