Hi, I'm Mark! Listen to the science fiction studies podcast I make with @silk-stone.itch.io, Starboard Vineyard Tours: abnormalmapping.com/starboard and check out our completed Moby Dick podcast: abnormalmapping.com/whale and the tabletop game he wrote and I edited: silk-stone.itch.io/detect-or-die

Just had to be step-by-step thoroughly convinced that you can still buy blank CDs. I'm not saying I don't believe it now but it was really, really surprising to me and I needed to see evidence.

some colleagues have suggested to me that shame is irrelevant because the people on the "other side" don't know or care what "we" (on whatever "this side") think of them. I have...not gotten that impression

Yeah it's not like I think it had no fun moments but. Lots of obnoxiousness

Yeah I also rarely finish games I dislike, the reason Friendsim was an obvious shoe-in is that it's a game I enjoyed at the time but in retrospect do not think holds up

WHAT A TREASURE! Check this out!

Puckering manuscript is largely in Milton's own hand (copied before his blindness, full of his edits) including Lycidas, Comus, On Time, and - coolest of all - his notes towards his great epic.

Here's how the NYT described it in 1881 (I'll note some stuff after):

I rarely finish games at all (really, I rarely play finishable games? I guess yes Caves of Qud has "endings" but come on now that's not what the game's about.) but I sure did read everything every one of those awful little trolls had to say

What's the worst game you finished/rolled credits on?

(games media folks, it can't be something you were assigned to review; this has to be something you subjected yourself to of your own free will)

Yesterday was very bad, got hit with extra charges, overexerted myself, cramped and strained through the night, now having trouble walking or standing as my legs are like jelly

Need help

My rent is paid, so October starts now for my finances.

Of course, disability pretty much runs out immediately once rent is paid, so I'm going into the month on the ropes.

Plus, it's my birthday month. (The 8th!)

So here's the fundraising.

HEY! On Thursday (10/16) I am giving a talk at Auburn about how we depict and talk about worlds in tabletop and miniature games. It's about granularity and how fiddly we get about the worlds we make. It's at 4pm and it's free and the info can be found at this link cla.auburn.edu/cah/events/?...
