Your challenge for the day is to invent a ReformUK policy. On Shrove Tuesday next year we get to see if they’ve adopted it.

Remember, it should appeal to insane pensioners and absolutely nobody else. QT with yours!

Even in the book I read, "On the psychology of military incompetence", there wasn't an example as deliberately, avoidably, stupid as this!
The US DOD has just blacklisted military personnel from taking courses at most of America's top universities and specialist tech and medicine schools, including Harvard, Yale, MIT and Johns Hopkins. Somehow I don't see the PLA making this kind of unforced error.

Behold the complete, canonical #Covid19 thread - and yes, Covid is still a thing:
We were told to wash our hands and sing happy birthday and still are being told this, when in fact they knew it was airborne from day 1. bsky.app/profile/elho...
Here is Dr Barry Jones explaining that they knew from ‘day 1’ it was airborne and a virus of some consequence. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cpR...

Ireland has a scheme to give artists a basic weekly income in the hope of reducing their need for alternative work and boosting their creativity, the first of its kind in the world.

The pilot recouped more than it cost, and they've made it permanent.

Very cool.

For months, we have been digging into a big myth — that strong social protection holds back economic growth.🔍

Spoiler: it doesn’t.💪

We launch our findings tomorrow in our report 'More than a Safety Net'. Stay tuned.🚀

This has been true for over a decade:
Your council tax going up and your council services getting worse is not your local council's fault. Central government funding has been slashed so their overall money has plummeted. They're just offloading the outrage on to local officials.

Public transport win 🏆
About fifteen years ago, just before we got rid of our car, we did this glorious journey (across the top of Scotland) in reverse (and by driving). I’ve wanted to go back to Orkney ever since but didn’t realise the trains could work so well.

Now, definitely on my list of next train trips.
I've just released a short video showing the journey to Orkney, by Caledonian Sleeper to Inverness, the scenic Far North Line to Thurso (Britain's most northerly station) and Northlink Ferries from Scrabster to Stromness on the excellent m/v Hamnavoe. Take a peek!
