I walked into the classroom and immediately could tell my senior seminar students were planning something.

What were they planning?

Getting flip phones and destroying their smart phones. So that’s where the history majors are at.

Impressive how one political party can control the White House, the House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court, but not bear responsibility for whether the federal government functions. Neat trick.

"War is peace" is literally from Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four"

Hegseth: "As history teaches us, the only people who actually deserve peace and those who are willing to wage war to defend it. That's why pacifism is so naive and dangerous."

Did you know ICE is holding a disabled advocate and whistleblower who helped shut down one of their detention centres?

Alma Bowman is a 58 year old woman from Georgia who spent 30 months in ICE custody during the first Trump regime.

When released she became a fearless advocate for detainees 🧵

*You’re* pushing college history faculty to have students write papers by typing prompts into AI that they immediately forget.

Meanwhile *I’m* collaborating with my college’s art department to make my students learn to write cuneiform on clay tablets that they get to keep.

Guess what our Halloween theme is this year!

*You,* a responsible academic, have just cancelled your academia.edu account.

*I,* a scatterbrained academic, have not been able to log into my academia account for months because I don’t know the password & I think it’s still attached to my former university email that I no longer have access to.

One person familiar with the federal investigation told NBC News “thus far, there is no evidence connecting the suspect with any left-wing groups…Every indication so far is that this was one guy who did one really bad thing because he found Kirk’s ideology personally offensive.”
'No evidence' found yet of ties between Charlie Kirk's shooting and left-wing groups, officials say
Three people familiar with the federal probe into Kirk’s assassination told NBC News that investigators have yet to find a link between the alleged shooter and left-wing groups.

Teaching “Fall of Rome” next semester and thinking of doing a decline or change model, where each week we investigate different aspects of Roman life/empire into Byzantium to determine decline or change.

Has anyone taught it this way? I’m not totally sold but considering it.

My school did a survey of what classroom tech we would like, and I asked for typewriters so students could type in-class work without the internet.

I also had to specify I was dead serious.

One of my students discovered what she believes is a fake ancient artifact in a museum (presented as authentic), and now that’s what she’s writing her paper on this semester.

Assuming it’s a solid paper, should I have her email the museum when she’s done?
