I get second hand progressive pride in my neighbor city of Durham, so impressed with their fearless pursuit of progressive policy. Only place in NC that doesn’t seem to bow to the “rule” that Dems have to be centrist to win in the South.
Durham tenants’ success in lobbying the city council to prohibit landlords from collecting rent if housing is dangerous or unhealthy has sparked interest from tenants in other cities who want to add teeth to their housing codes. ncnewsline.com/2026/02/03/s... story by @gchildress.bsky.social

Another Outer Banks house fell in the ocean. The winter bomb cyclone this weekend sped this process along.

Whether you are pro or anti snow, either way it’s not hard to feel directly targeted by mother nature with this upcoming snow storm.

North Carolina should close its southern border.
When I think about measles I think about the number 1,000. Thats the number that epidemiologists use to explain harm from measles in children. With 1,000 cases, about 200 children will require hospitalization, 50 will develop pneumonia, and one to three will die.

South Carolina is at 789.

Why does Tillis even pretend that he cares about Trump’s abuses of power? He gave a big ol speech last week, he’s not running next year so no worries of voter blowback, but he still couldn’t be bothered to vote for a bill that addresses his big “concerns”?!?
NEWS: Senate votes 52-47 to advance a measure restricting Trump's power to use military force in Venezuela.

A rare warning shot from Congress to Trump as he dials up foreign rhetoric.

Voting YES: Democrats + Rand Paul, Collins, Murkowski, Young, Hawley.

Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine, who led the bipartisan resolution, said that Trump's actions in Venezuela are "clearly illegal" because he did not seek congressional approval.

Today is officially the end of something, start of something.. not exactly sure what to call it but today is the day I reversed the direction of the ceiling fan. Not planning on needing the cooling effects anymore until spring. Not exactly the start of winter, but adjacent?

It’s a fun time to have a gay, trans son because now I get to do thought experiments, like in the future will my state/country recognize my son’s marriage as a gay marriage or will they refuse to recognize his gender so on paper his marriage appears straight?

Had an issue with Verizon recently- our plan comes with a call blocker feature meant to block spam calls. For the past three days, my dad’s (who is definitely in my contacts, I have him marked to alert in ALL modes) calls have all gone to voicemail, as if he was spam.

One thing that sucks about middle age is if you have any trusted service provider that you found when you entered adulthood, they are probably retiring. My PCP, my psychiatrist, and my dentist have all retired after over a decade of being their patient.

His only strategy to end the shut down is to dangle federal workers in front of Dems. “I’m gonna torture these hostages until you give me what I want” is his strategy. Bold strategy to be a terrorist against and the head of an organization.
Q: Why do you say some federal workers should not get their backpay?

TRUMP: Well, you're gonna have to figure that out. Ask the Democrats

I think this type of reporting that note Trump’s absence from the public are so helpful. Not because I think “did he die” discourse is important, but bc if it spreads to MSM he is pressured into showing his face. Challenges his ego, he will override advisors who are trying to shield him from us.
Trump has not been seen in public since Tuesday and has no public events on his calendar today

What’s kinda crazy is that after all the political wrangling and centrist shaming that forced university’s to allow so many of these RW hate purveyors access to college campuses, this shooting might actually slow that down.

Is MAGA unintentionally reversing long held gender roles in America? Hear me out- first, they are targeting young men with the message that college is a waste, and they should pursue physically demanding trade jobs which have less upward mobility and hard to make it to retirement age.
Poll: Gen Z's gender divide reaches beyond politics and into its views on marriage, children and success
Gen Z men who backed Trump in 2024 rated having children at the top of a list of choices of how to define personal success. Gen Z women who backed Harris rated it second to last.
