Es gibt einen neuen Bericht zur Klimakrise in Österreich: Wo stehen wir? Was verändert sich? Wie schlimm ist es wirklich?

Wir haben eine Serie gemacht. #AAR2

As harrowing as this, it felt like a relief to read it. The commentariat's refusal to grapple with what climate change will do to us, if we don't phase out fossil fuels, has been driving me insane.

This should help break the collective amnesia.

🧐🤔🤨
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the fight against climate change was not against the fuels that cause it — only the pollution they emit.
Von der Leyen says EU is not fighting fossil fuels, only emissions
The comment could undermine European countries’ push at COP30 to move away from coal, oil and gas.

The same for journalists. If a politician or business leader spits out 1.5C or net zero, ask them how fast emissions need to drop to reach net zero in 2050, and how fast they are dropping today. Point out the contradiction. Make them explain it.

📢Global Carbon Budget 2025📢

Fossil CO2 emissions continue to rise in 2025 while the terrestrial carbon sink recovers to pre-El Niño strength.

The key findings are covered in two reports this year:
* ESSDD (preprint): essd.copernicus.org/preprints/es...
* Nature: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

RFK Jr talking about the need for doctors to know how to treat measles for those who are unvaccinated.

“Only very sick kids should die from measles.”

No. They shouldn’t. That was the point of the vaccine. We eradicated the virus so children didn’t die.

Sick & disabled kids are not expendable!

Recent historical emissions are higher than projected: I will bet any money this is the case again for CAT's #COP30 update, and by an even worse margin.

We have become obsessed with Building Lots Of Stuff and we're failing to stop burning fossil fuels

I've finally got around to curating a selection of films about the #climate crisis 🎥

There's lot of mediocre climate films out there, but for me these stand out head & shoulders above the rest 🎞️

They make excellent resources for classrooms, lecture halls, or community cinema's 🎬

A scoop that I’m not happy to report:

CBS News has gutted its climate change reporting team, one of the best in the business, and one of the only ones on cable news that consistently called out fossil fuels as the main source of climate pollution.

I disagree with the line you are taking here. There are in fact many very eminent scientists who are saying that we are on a course towards collapse

Rather than dismiss them out of hand Gates, indeed all of us, should listen and reflect on their arguments.

🚨 The news-media is utterly failing to cover these momentous scientific findings.

The public is not being informed of the danger posed.

The UK chief scientist Dame Angela McLean just highlighted this as an issue of national security - why are no news outlets covering it ?!? 🤯

Climate change DEFINITELY affects hurricane:

STRENGTH: Warmer water is hurricane food

RAINFALL: Warm air holds more water vapor

SURGE: Warmer water expands, warmer ice melts, sea levels rise

PREDICTION: hotter seas mean faster intensification
